my doc gave me the option to schedule an induction

no medical reason, nothing,

im progressing (3cm at 39w1d)

he asked if i wanted to schedule an induction for next week (due date 8/18) i said no - he said ok, if you want to wait thats fine, but once she's a week overdo we have to schedule an induction (which I knew about)

so im scheduled for a sonogram at my next appt which is 8/18 (if she doesnt show up) just to see how big she is... etc.


is this a little weird?

i don't think it's weird. he gave you the option, he didn't demand it. you said no, he said fine.

i would be happy he's letting you know what your choices are. many women would LOVE to be able to schedule an induction, but their OBs won't let them.

you made your choice and he respected it.

BTW, i scheduled an induction with DS and am so glad i did--it was the best decision i could have made for my situation!

I think it is good he gave you the choice, he was probably looking out for your comfort.

good for you! I would wait it out.

My sister went 2 weeks overdo...they induced at that point and she had a successful drug free(pain med) birth.

There is an increased chance of c-section with inductions.

I would think he would wait till your due date to talk about inductions, but it's not that far off - so it's not that weird.

Good for you for holding out. Hopefully this little one will show on it's own very soon!
