My FIL passed away on Friday...
I don't know if you guys remember but back in January I asked for prayers for my FIL when we found out he was diagnosis with AML (Acute Myloid Leukemia). He went into remission last month but needed to follow up with another round of chemo to keep him in remission 2 weeks ago.
Monday night he insisted he take me out for my birthday so we went to the Outback. The next morning he was rushed to the hospital. Wednesday we found out he had a blood clot and needed brain surgery. Thursday his brain herniated and he was declared brain dead. We then took him off life support. 24 hours later, he passed away with his wife, 2 sons, brother and sister, and me by his side. we never left the hospital. Saturday was the wake and sunday was the funeral. We're still sitting shiva right now.
He loved Ian. It hurts the most that Ian is cheated of his grandpa. We're going to do everything we can to keep his memory alive.
Thanks for reading and thanks so much to all of your who posted comments on my facebook. it really means a lot to me and DH.
Just want to post the last picture of him that was ever taken. This was at the Outback and Ian looked up at him with admiration and love. We'll miss you Steve.

Such a sweet picture. Aidan never knew his Grandpa but I talk about him all the time... Ian is a lucky little boy to have met such a great man... I am so sorry for your loss. Keep the memories going... Ian will never forget him..

I am so sorry for your loss, but most of all that it was so sudden I know that Ian will treasure the memories he has and you will help keep those memories alive
