My first born started preschool today.
I was a mess but he was fine.
Here's a pic of my little man on his first day
He doesn't look like a happy camper but that's cuz dad isn't the greatest photographer. LOL DH always manages to catch people looking mean.

I wonder - do they really need backpacks? I bought one for Emily but then wondered, what the heck are we supposed to put in it? I also have a separate snack tote.

Just wait! You'll see all the stuff they come home with! The teacher will send newsletters home, to inform you about fundraisers, activities, supplies needed, etc. And of course, the kids will bring their arts and crafts home.
How adorable is that little boy?? I hope his day went well today!

They don't necessarily "need" a backpack I guess because it's not like they are carrying books but I know in our case they require him to have a folder for notes they will send, etc... and either way it makes it more exciting for the munckins.
DS picked his backpack out all by himself. I thought for sure he would go for Elmo but he said "no Elmo mommy, CARS!!!"

First off, very cute son!
DS has a Cars backpack, too. It also has a handle and wheels, so he can pull it like luggage. Today is his first day of pre-k. It's in the same school as preshcool that he's been going to for a few months, so hopefully it will be an easy transition... 
He seemed pretty excited about DW putting all his supplies together. Pencils, crayons, notebooks, glue sticks, etc.
