My first extremely emotional photoshoot
Today I did a "day after" session for my cousin and his wife. They are both in the air force, home from overseas for the holidays. They eloped 2 montsh ago b/c they have no idea if they will be on base or overseas for their May wedding date.
That being said, as a wedding gift I promised them that I would do a shoot for them b/c they don't have any really nice pics together.
I had a really hard time keeping it together. Thankfully it was really windy out so I got to blame my tears on allergies and wind LOL. To see my cousin so happy and with an absolutely wonderful girl was just overwhelming to me. This is a kid who as the youngest of the cousin's got hung from doorknobs, beaten up and basically tortured He turned into such an amazing man, strong, brave and the Air Force has brought out so much of the wonderful traits he posseses.
I look at him and I see how hard it must be for a parent and for a wife to let someone you love live so far away and fight for us overseas. To constantly worry about your son/husband's well being. I know a few girls on the board are married to military men and I give you so much credit, I really do.
I feel for my aunt who has her "baby" so far away and has already done a tour overseas. I think how someday it could be ANY of our children doing the same thing and as a parent, it really hits home for me now more than ever. Saying goodbye to him broke my heart in a million pieces b/c he could be shipped out again tomorrow. It was rough. We said our "i love you's" and went on our way. I watched him and his wife walk back down the street hand in hand and basically lost it in the car. I pray that God keeps them safe.
Today I am humbled, blessed, and thankful and only wish that I could do more.
