I am so sorry for them. I saw on TV a story of a baby who had their intestines form outside of it's body and needed immediate surgery. The baby was fine!
Think good thoughts for them!

I had a somewhat similiar situation. The only thing I can say to do, is to truly let them celebrate. It is so hard when everyone around you is so sad. Going to doctors and talking about it constantly...with family, with friends...its nice when you speak to someone who is truly happy and lets you celebrate that you're having a baby!

What about trying to organize a fundraiser for the baby after it's born? A lot of bars will help out with stuff like that. You pay the bar their price per person and add on an extra $20 that goes to the family. I went to one once for a fundraiser for a walk and between the price and donations they earned over $3,000.
I think this is a wonderful idea...better than a reception.
I love this idea, hope everything works out for your friends and their baby

the fund raiser is a beautiful & thoughtful idea.
I actually live in the Boston area.... my idea isn't as great but you can maybe you & some friends can pitch in & get buy them a weekend at Canyon Ranch (an INCREDIBLE spa in Lenox, Mass, about 90 min outside Boston.)

If that's too fancy, you can get them tickets to a show in Boston. The Comedy Connection is a great place and tickets are usually $25-30 each and they have GREAT headliners. Maybe a night of good laughs would help? There are some great restaurants right near the club that you can get them a gift cert to for dinner & a show? www.comedyconnectionboston.com
