My IVF Journal..FINAL update 11/20
Hello Ladies,
I haven't posted much lately on this board, but I will be starting an IVF cycle any day now and since so many people have had success doing IVF and keeping a journal, I decided to start mine.
History:
I'm 30 and DH is 33. We have unexplained MF issues. We have one DD (18 months) conceived through our first IVF w/ICSI in July 2007. We decided that now was a good time to try for a sibling for DD.
After much consideration we decided to switch our RE. We started seeing the new RE in June and did one IUI without success. Instead of wasting any more time or money, we decided to just do IVF instead of more IUI's.
9/24/09: I am currently waiting for AF to show up. I'm on CD31 so she should be here any day. I received all my IVF meds on Friday and am ready to go.
9/28/09: AF finally came on Saturday. I called my RE to make my CD3 bloodwork appointment and I was told that I didn't need to come in for that. Instead I should come in after I ovulate. I was very confused by this, because another nurse had told me something different. So, now I won't be starting any meds until after I ovulate which should be around CD16. Hopefully then, everything will look good and I can start Lupron. This has been such a frustrating experience.
10/14/09: Went to the RE yesterday to confirm ovulation - which I did. Started Lupron last night. It wasn't so bad, but the injection sight was very itchy afterwards. I head back to the RE on 10/24 and should start stimming then.
10/25/09: I got started my lupron bleed on Thursday and went to the RE yesterday. Lining and both ovaries looked good, so we started stimming....FINALLY  I am on 300 cc of Menopur and still on 20 cc of lupron. Back to the RE on Tuesday to see the follies are growing.
11/4/9: I haven't had a chance to update in a while. But I started stims on 10/24 and today was my egg retrieval. They retrieved 9!! I will receive a call tomorow with my fert report and then transfer is set for saturday.
11/5/09: 5 of the 9 retrieved have fertilized. I was hoping for more, but I will take that. We also had 5 of 7 fertilize with my first IVF, so although 5 seems low, I know that it is still possible for it to work. I will recieve a call tomorrow with my transfer time on Saturday.
11/7/09: Had my transfer today. We put back 2 embryos one was a 8 cell grade 1 and the other was a 10 cell grade 1/2 - the doctor said that was excellent - which we were very happy to hear. Now the dreaded 2WW.
11/16: This 2WW is so loooooong!! I tested today at 9dp3dt and got a BFN!! I am hoping that I just tested to soon. But it is still hard not to feel upset about it. Beta test is on Friday! Please keep your fingers crossed for me.
11/18: Another pregnancy test = another BFN at 11dp3dt.  Beta is scheduled for Friday, but not hopeful.
11/20: Beta test = BFN!!!! I have to make a consult appt with the RE to see when we can do a FET.

The retrieval went well. It took only about 20 minutes. I am a bit soar today, but extra strength tylenol has been helping with that.
