My less then great - but still exciting 38(39 w) appt
I'm not sure which emoticon displays my feelings right now.
I'm 38w 5d today. I felt I would likely go past my due date - just a feeling, no good reason. I have been planning on trying to go natural for the birth (but not completely against drugs if necessary.)
Anyway, last week I was very excited when the Dr. told me baby was in the ready position - head down - not far, but there, cervex was soft but not open, my size was good, etc. I had kept worring it was breech, but he and the dr the week before said no.
This week we had a sonogram and I couldn't wait to see the baby since we hadn't seen it since 20w. Well, the tech goes in and BAM - she tells us baby is breech! I know it's not the worst thing, but I guess I had a plan and it's not gonna happen that way.
We are now scheduled for a version (has anyone had the Dr. be able to turn their baby? They said I'm a good candidate, but I'm still scared b/c if they can't, it seems a definate C-section is in order.) We will go in Tuesday morning, the Dr. will try to get the baby in position and if it works, then they will induce me. I'm excited to see this little one, but not at all ready and I'm afraid of induction but even more afraid of the c-section.
Thanks for letting me vent a little. I could really use some good vibes if you have any to spare, that the version works. Can't believe by this time next week I will probably be holding my little baby in my arms!!!!

Sorry no advice but
Why would you need to be induced if they are successful in turning the baby? Why can't you labor naturally?

Thanks.
Well, the midwife said that if they are successful with turning it, it may turn back and they wouldn't want to go through all that to be back at square one. And if it did turn back, most likely I'd be again stuck with a c-section.

I don't know much about breech births , but I know you have every right to reject a c-section.

Thank you.
I know I could probably tell them I want to wait it out - but, I think just having seen some breech births, that would actually scare me more. The midwife said that some woman do it, and even had someone last week have a natural breech birth, but that woman had had a child before and this is my first. She didn't recommend it but said it was up to me.
I mean, I know plenty of women have c-sections and it's not that big a deal, but it just wasn't what I had planned on, ya know?
I just keep trying to tell myself no matter what, I'm having a baby!!! As long as it's healthy, I shouldn't worry - but still, I can't help it!

Wow!! That is great to hear! I think because I am only a week away too -they feel it makes sense for me to be induced.

I'm only 32 weeks but my baby is not in the head down position either. I've been doing a few things, you should definitely try them!
Go to spinningbabies.com and do the inversion or breech tilt. I've been doing it 2x a day for about 1 minute.
Find a chiropractor certified in the Webster technique. I've gone 2x already and I'm feeling a difference.
Good luck. I'll be sending you turning baby vibes

Well - looks like it won't matter anyway. I guess baby had other plans. My water broke so I'm waiting for the Dr. on call (sadly - the one we liked the least - not that she seems bad, just didn't click as well) to call me back right now.
Oh - she just called - looks like I am heading in and we'll have a C-Section She said once the water breaks, they can't turn the baby. I can see this kid is gonna be trouble from the get go.
Oh well - I guess we will meet little Turniphead in just a few hours!!!

Hope it works out- I have a friend who was breech and scheduled for a version last week- she went to the hospital, they hooked her up to the IV and stuff, and then found that the baby had turned on her own at 37 weeks, so you never know!
