My neighbor is hosting a party...
for the women in the neighborhood and her friends. I got the invite, but it doesn't say to RSVP. Do I RSVP anyway??
It's one of those Arbonne parties and a couple of other women are selling jewelry and handmade handbags.
Do I bring anything?
FWIW, this is my across the street neighbor. I don't really know her all that well, but her DH is a builder and will be doing construction on our home this summer. They have 4 daughters...so should I bring something for them?

Re: My neighbor is hosting a party...
hmmm,,,I don't know. I don't get invited to many of these things.
but I would rsvp, and use that as a time to ask if she'd like you to bring anything (wine, a dish, whatever) if she says No, i'd bring flowers.
how old are her girls? maybe stuff to keep them "busy" or entertained whilst the party is going...coloring books, a chia pet...whatever.

Re: My neighbor is hosting a party...
I have never brought anything to a party like this. I would assume the kids won't be there either as all the parties I have gone to the kids are out of the house during the party.

I agree that if it's a party where things are being sold then you dont need to bring anything.

I assume the kids won't be there, that they will be with the grandparents (her parents live on our street and her DH's parents live in the area as well.) But I figured I should "suck-up" a bit and bring the girls something anyway.
The girls are 9, 7 and 2 yr old twins. I figured I'd bring glowsticks for the older girls. Now I just gotta' figure out what to get for the twins.
I figured if you're hosting a party, you probably have the food and wine part planned out already, right?
Should I bring a potted plant? Or just bring stuff for the girls and leave it at that?

I agree- bring your check book and that's it
you are going to feel pressured to buy something- this isn't a real party in my opinion - it's a sales pitch

Hmmm....maybe I should skip the plant and stick with wine. I know I'd prefer wine over anything green!

I'd bring the alcohol on the off chance there isn't any there. I cannot think of a worse fate than to be stuck at a party like that without a drink in my hand.
and I don't know anyone that would mind an extra bottle or two of wine in the house.
eta: you said the hubby is a builder right? well, your dd is such a "daddy's girl" get her girls a copy cat gift of something you'd get for daddy's little helper.

Well, most of the people going know each other already and hang out b/c their kids go to school together, etc..
I would like to become friendlier with them, especially since our daughters are a year apart and wil eventually be going to school together. My DH talks with her DH quite often because the both of them are outside working, but the wife and I just never seem to see each other.

Agree completely!!! She will be thrilled that you are attending. Frankly, I'm sick of all these parties, but do attend a select few because its a good way to find out what's going on in the neighborhood or in my kid's school. I figure buying something is just the price of admission.

Re: My neighbor is hosting a party...
How about a bottle of wine and a tray of chocolate covered pretzels and strawberries-you can go to a chocolate specialty shop and they wrap it really pretty. Id probably skip the gifts for the kids-too much thought involved with the different ages-lol. Plus, what kid doesnt love chocolate!
