toddler moms-anyone not have a party for a second bday?
The first Bday was too huge, too stressful and Im just not looking foward to having a big party again for his second- i hope that doesnt sound mean but we have a large family and if you invite one you invite them all or else, there is no way to make it small with out offending someone... im thinking about forgetting about the party all toegther and taking him to sesame place. Would it be totally rude to not have a party?

Re: toddler moms-anyone not have a party for a second bday?
We just did a small party for immediate family at our house.
ETA: Didn't answer the question, sorry! I don't think it would be rude at all. Maybe just have the grandparents over for cake or something to celebrate.

I love parties and tons of people at the house but I don't think it's rude not to do anything. Many of my friends don't do the whole toddler party thing and no one thinks twice about it.

We had a HUGE 1st b-day for Julia too, and this year we are doing something small with just a few friends and family.

Re: toddler moms-anyone not have a party for a second bday?
We have our own tradition.... no big parties. I don't want all the crappy toys. Dad takes the birthday child to breakfast, just the 2 of them.... I get to go to lunch.... just me and the birthday baby!! We all go out that evening to the toy store and the birthday child gets to chose his own big gift.... what ever he wants.... then the siblings pick what they want to give and we go home to play and have cake.... Family comes when and if they chose to celebrate the birthday of our child.... friends call and we have agreed no gifts just movie tickets or tickets for a family event.
This works for us.... we used to do the big over the top parties.... I am just not into it any more. We usually celebrate all week long so it ends up being a really special time for each of our children.

Re: toddler moms-anyone not have a party for a second bday?
We just had Jesse's 2nd birthday and we did not have a party. His cousin's communion was the next day so the whole family was getting together for that. Also, our house is under construction and we cannot have people over. We went out to eat with Grandma (it's her birthday too) and his uncle and then had ice cream.
I don't think people will be offended - you do what you want to do and what you can do for your child.

Re: toddler moms-anyone not have a party for a second bday?
We've always had small parties for my kids b-days. Just family only. I did a party last year for Andrew's second and I ended up missing it because I was sick and it was just so much. I don't think its rude at all, although I have had some people comment to me that they can't believe we don't do celebrations for them that are big with everyone included. When they pay the billl, I will.

Re: toddler moms-anyone not have a party for a second bday?
We didn't even do a 1st b-day party, and I don't plan on a second either. I am not a big party person and neither is DH. Ryan has no idea what is going on, by the time he is 3 or 4 we might have something. It is definitely not rude, you are not expected to have a party for a birthday.

We had a big party for Kate's 1st, but I am drastically cutting the guest list this year to mostly immediate family and a couple of close friends.
ETA...I'm relieved when I'm not invited to kids' parties!
