My Pool Alarm came today
After hearing about the little ones in Mt Sinai and their pool, I decided I should not delay on getting a pool alarm. The one that came today has a wrist band and if it gets wet the base units sounds. I tested it by putting jennys arm in her kiddie pool. This one is for when we have company and others are in the pool. I have another one on order for when there is no one in the pool. I hear this one is really loud. Hope it comes this week. They are expensive but I dont have a fence around my pool, just my yard, so I had to get them.

Could you give me the info on the ones that you ordered. I ordered a pool alarm last year...and it kept on going off when no one was near the pool...I think it is defective. Thank you!

The first time I heard about these were on the news last night and apparently it is NYS law to have one  but I never heard of it.

I never heard that either. The first one that came yesterday is call Safety Turtle. I googled it and found a site that had it for 138.99. In The Swim website I will let you know when the other one comes. That one was over $400 and got great reviews.

Thank you for the link, Liz. We have an in-ground pool with just the fencing around out property too and I wanted to get an alarm as well. I definitely want to get a fence around the pool also so I need to check into the costs for that too.

The one with the wrist sensor is really for when you have people over and others are in the pool. I cant fence the pool well since there is a waterfall. The other alarm will be on all the time (off when we are in it) I also have the house alarm on chime when we open back door. A fence it the best option but we dont have that.

Even though our yard is fenced, we just got the baby fence for around the pool. I have to look into the wristband alarm since the pool alarm doesn't work if you're using the pool. Thanks!

Have you considered getting the fence around your pool? Alarms are really difficult since if your child gets out the door without your knowledge she would not have the wrist band on and with so many alarms these days ie: cars, homes, people often ignored them.
You may want to alert your neighbors to what the alarm sounds like so they would know to respond if they heard it.
