My poor baby...

She's so miserable the last two days. I don't think her doseage of Zantac is high enough now because she gained so much weight since the dr. prescribed it. She is in so much pain and can't be put downChat Icon Everytime I put her at less than a 90 degree angle, I can see her little face start to contort because the acid comes upChat Icon I know tomorrow is Monday and I can speak to the dr. then, but I hate for her to have to go another night with barely any sleep and feeling so yucky. Last night she cried in her sleep for most of the nightChat Icon Chat Icon It was so horrible to see and hear.Chat Icon

Re: My poor baby...

I'm so sorry. Are you giving Mylicon too? Maybe try a lilttle Tylenol for the pain, it helps Katie. How much does Ava weigh now? I can at least give you the dosage that we give Katie at certain weights and maybe that will help?

Re: My poor baby...

She was 7lbs.11oz when she was born and he has her on .4ml three times a day. Now she ways a little over 10lbs.
We think the mylicon might be constipating her (go figure!), so we stopped giving it to her. She definitely doesn't have gas. Chat Icon

Re: My poor baby...

Katie is 11lbs 9oz and we give her .7ml
When she was around Ava's weight we were giving her .6ml How much are you giving her?
Also, right now we give Katie .6ml of Mylicon and Tylenol. If you're still giving her .4ml I'd go up to .5 or .6ml They grow so fast its hard to get them to the ped to adjust meds, but since we just had Katie there on Friday I have noew dosages.

Re: My poor baby...

We're giving her .4ml three times a day. I KNOW it's not enough, and to be honest, I've been giving her .5ml the last two days because she's been miserable and it's still not enough. I think I'll try the Tylenol. Maybe it'll help at least a little. Thank you SO much.Chat Icon

Re: My poor baby...

With her weight I would give her .6ml of Zantac and yes, try the Tylenol it helps Katie a lot when she gets really bad. Good luck tonight. Can you have her sleep in a semi-sitting up position? Like in her carseat or bouncy seat? We have a little seat kind of like her car seat and she sleeps SO much better in an inclined position. Chat Icon

WE had the same problem with the mylicon. When Steven was at his worst we had him sleep in his infant car seat/ stroller because he was more upright in it.

Hope she feels better soon.

I am so sorry, it sounds exactly like my girl at that age.
She has been on 1.5ml twice a day since then.

I slept on the couch with her for 2 months straight so I didn't have to lie her down.Chat Icon Chat Icon to you- it gets better!

Re: My poor baby...

I have a question. I don't have tylenol, I thought I bought tylenol but it's call Little Fevers and it has NO DOSAGE for babies under 24lbs. It just say consult physician. Has anyone used this? And how much did you use and how much did you baby weigh? Maybe I should just run out and get Tylenol.

Re: My poor baby...

Personally I'd get Tylenol. That will also say consult you dr but you can give her .5 or .6 ml at her weight.

Iam so sorry that Ava is not feeling well. Sara had the same problems. She would scream spit up and be filled with gas. I am not BF so doc changed her to Nutramegin. She still was spitting up but not as much and no more gas. Actually she stopped projectile whien I added rice.

Re: My poor baby...

I feel so bad for both of you! Chat Icon

I went through really bad AR with both of my kids. DS was in the hospital at 10 weeks it was so bad, so I feel both of your pain! You can call a 24 hour pharmacy to find out how much Tylenol you can use. My ped. also recommended using warm chamomile tea. That helped a bit. The crib wedge helped a lot!!! If DD isn't in a crib yet, you can try using a maternity wedge in the bassinet and surrounding it with rolled up receiving blankets. That worked pretty well. I hope you both feel better soon!

BTW, the GI also had us start rice cereal VERY early (6 weeks or so) and switched us to Alimentum (I was not BFing), which helped both kids a great deal.

Re: My poor baby...

Thanks everyone. I'm going out to get the Tylenol now. We already have a crib wedge in her crib. Doesn't do much, as she already rolls over and rolls right off of itChat Icon (we have it under the mattress, so the whole mattress is propped up).
I really appreciate everyone's advice. Thank you all so much!Chat Icon

What is the active ingredient in what you have? I could help you out although I don't know if I agree with giving Tylenol for acid reflux pain.
Does you doctor let you give her Mylanta or Maalox in between her Zantac if she has an "episode" for lack of a better term?
Also if you don't feel the Zantac is working after a dose increase you may want to talk to you ped. about Prilosec or Prevacid. Miranda did much better on Prevacid.
Chat Icon I hate that you have to go through this. I always said I would never wish it on anyone, it was awful.

Re: My poor baby...

I don't think I am going to give her the Tylenol. I just went out to grab it, but it probably won't do her any good, anyway. I'm going to talk to the doctor tomorrow and see what they say. She's not screaming in pain right now like she was before. She just won't sleep. I feel really bad for her.Chat Icon

If the active ingredient in the other stuff is acetaminophen then it's the same thing as tylenol.
Hope the doctor can help you out tomorrow.
