My sweet pup needs lots and lots of good thoughts - UPDATE Monday night
For about a year or so, we've been noticing that Lilly has been losing pigment in her left nostril. We've mentioned it to the vet several times and it always was the same answer - "Let's keep an eye on it." It's never appeared to bother her at all.
We brought her in for a dental cleaning today and the vet called me while Lilly was still under the anesthesia and told me that she doesn't like the way the nose looks and that she wants to do a biopsy on it. I told her to go ahead with it. ($865 later for the entire day, BTW...   )
Worst case scenario - it's an auto-immune disease, like Lupus. 
Please, if you can, say a little prayer to St. Francis for our Lilly girl. We should know the results early next week.
Here's 2 recent pics of her - the first is the "good" side of her nose and then there's the head-on shot. 
******** Update 8/30 *********
She has Discoid Lupus.
It's non-life threatening, but still icky. It affects the skin on the face, turning it pink and possibly ulcerated as she gets older.
Treatment seems to be a course of vitamin E and a corticosteriod cream. Out vet was going to consult with a canine dermatologist and get back to me later in the week.

Aww Lily, I'm sorry you're going through this! I hope it comes back fine and that it's just cosmetic. How old is she now? I feel like you got her just in the past few years, or is it I just knew of her from LIF?
Poor girl. I hope she's ok.

When we found a lump on Ginger, my vet told me the chances of it being serious were fairly slim because of her age. She's also between 3 and 4. I hope you find out the same!
Hey, are you going to camp at all in the next two weeks? I'm going Sunday after mass to do my Mom a favor, and then next week for the Labor day festivities...
