Name Change Question
If I change my name at social security card to:
first name, middle name, maiden name, DH's name (no hyphen)
Can I, on credit cards, use just DH's name?
Example: Ann Beth Cohen Dern
Can my credit card say - Ann Beth Dern?

Re: Name Change Question
I used my maiden name as my middle name on my new SS card, but everywhere else I just use firstname marriedlastname. Never a problem.

Re: Name Change Question
My credit card has my real name, hyphen, then my husbands name.
But I never changed anything legally to my married name.
I guess they put anything you want on there.
No one has ever questioned the fact that my license does not match my credit card.

I wanted to do that and essentially have two middle names. The town where I did my name change said it would make things very difficult with paperwork and I had to decide between my middle name at birth OR my maiden name as a permanent middle name.
I WOULD have been permitted to do a SECOND name change and then ADD my maiden name as another middle name at another time, but I couldnt do it all at once. It would become a problem if DH and I were ever to end our marriage and I returned to my maiden name. Id have my maiden name twice as one would be a middle and the other would be a last name.
It sounded like a logistical nightmare so we left well enough alone and I no longer use my maiden name as a legal identity. Since I am not in business and do not have clients so to speak, it really didnt matter. I refused to give up my middle name as it honored a deceased family member and thus gave up my maiden last name. As far as honoring my father's last name, he was a rather traditional man and would expect his female children (3/4 of us) to take their husband's family name.
Though it isn't technically legal, there are times when I use all four names. For example, when I request records from a doctor, I use all names because most of my records have my maiden name on them.
