name changing questions
I need advice and answers please.
I got married Septmeber of the year I did student teaching so I did not want to change my name mid-everything so I waited. (All my tests and workshops were done under maiden and I figured the state would have major issues leading to holdups if I changed.I got my certifcation in my maiden name Then when I was applying I wanted to avoid confusion so I thought I would keep my maiden name until I got a permanent position but I was hired in 4 districts as a sub. It's taking longer than I thought and I want my husbands name! What should I do? I am employed in 4 districts under my maiden name, my certification is in my maiden name, so I don't know what to do
Any advice?

Re: name changing questions
I got married in June and am student teaching now. All of my certification has been under my maiden name, and my degree will be in my married name. So far, everything has transfered no problem. Since it's all connected to your soc. security #, once your last name is changed on that, everything else goes with it. I double check on the TEACH online services website just to make sure, and NY State requires you to send a copy of your marriage certificate for a name change, but it went through pretty quickly.
HTH!

Re: name changing questions
I kept my certifications in my maiden name and use my married name legally adn in my job. It can be traced through your social security number through state ed, and you just notify the district you are working at that your certifications are in your maiden name. Not a big deal at all!!!

Re: name changing questions
go teach online (on the NYSED site) and you can change everything over on there. i just did it... and it's a $25.00 fee for a name change if the certificate that's already been issued. I had to submit a copy of my marriage license for this. If you're applying for a completely new certifcate, do it in your new name. it's not a big deal as they track you by your SS#.
for the districts, i would think you would have to call. i called the payroll person and she changed everything over for me.... it was no problem.
