Nanny/Babysitter Rates for 2 Children
I work FT and have a PT nanny 3 days a week. I am due with a second child in March.
How much did you increase her salary after you had your second child - % is fine if you don't want to share the actual numbers.
Also, if she worked for you while you were home on maternity leave, did you increase the salary as soon as the baby was born or after you went back to work and she was now watching the 2 kids alone?
TIA!!
ETA: My children will be 13.5 months apart.

We gave her the raise when I went back to work and she has the 2 kids by herself. My boys are 14 months apart.

Re: Nanny/Babysitter Rates for 2 Children
I think we gave her the raise after I went back to work. WHen I was home on maternity leave I really was with DD #1 alot so she wasn't really ever alone with both of them.
Her salary is a little different since she's a live-in nanny but we have her about a 10% raise. Might have been more if DD #1 was home more but she's in school everyday from 9-3:30 pm.

This is what I am scared of
Our nanny worked for our neighbors for 9 years until all of their kids were in school FT and then she started working for us. I may ask them what they did to get an idea.

I don't have a nanny but that seems like a lot to me. I would have guessed 30% or so.

Thanks for answering because I really am looking to see what everyone else did. My issue is that if we increased her salary by 50%, then I would be paying over $2500 a month for PT childcare, which seems like a lot to me.

That sounds about right for the tri-state area.
An au pair might be better for you, the weekly stipend is for up to 3 kids.

$2500 a week for 3 days a week PT childcare seems a lot for 2 children. I go to an in home daycare and I pay around $1800/month for FT care. I know a nanny is more but that does seem like a lot to me.

A nanny is a lot more and for good reason; the convenience of them coming to you and your child having their total attention.
Is your in-home daycare licensed? What is the ratio of caretakers per child?

Re: Nanny/Babysitter Rates for 2 Children
I am upstate, but we plan on increasing my nanny's rate by 20%. We gave her a 10% increase already (at her 1 year anniversary with us) and then planned on giving her another 10%.
However, I think we are going to enroll DS #1 in a traditional daycare the 2 days a week the nanny is with us. I am just not sure she could handle 2 kids under 2 (mine are 18 mos apart).

Re: Nanny/Babysitter Rates for 2 Children
When I worked as a nanny for 2 kids, I was working F/T M-F 645am-4pm. I was making 360 a week. When they added number 3, it went up to 400 a week. That was 3 years ago..

Yes she is licensed and the ratio is about 1 caretaker for 5 kids of varying ages (the majority older than my 6 month olds). $2500 just sounded like a lot to me at first for 3 days a week but I have never looked into in home nanny care so that may be the going rates, I am not too much help here I guess.
