Nap question - Over 1 year old
DS is 12 months old now and I am just wondering - When did your DC transition from 2 naps a day down to just 1. Also what is your childs sleep schedule like – when does he/she wake up, take naps, go to bed?
Some days DS cant survive without his 2nd nap and others he will just keep playing until bedtime...so I am not sure when he won't need to take 2 anymore!
Thanks!

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
Thanks for posting.. I kept forgetting to ask. My dd is now 15m and the last few days has been only doing 1 nap a day.. I finally got her down for her morning nap and took almost 2 hours... hoping I can get her back on a 2 nap schedule again.

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
Hi Kelly,
DD is just about 18 months & just this week is fighting her morning nap. She'll then sleep for 2 hours in the pm though.
She is a great sleeper at night, going down at 7:30 pm & sleeping to 6:45-7am.
She used to sleep around 9:30am-11:30 & then would go down again around 2:30-4pm.

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
My younger DD dropped her morning nap around 14-15 mos. I think. Ever since then, she's slept 3 hours between 2:30-5:30.

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
Thanks Cindy. Your DD has a smiliar schedule to DS. He goes down now from 9:30-11 and then from 3:30-5/5:30. The last few days I have been doing one nap because we are off schedule from christmas eve and day so he is waking up later. So he has been taking a nap around 11 or 12…yesterday he then took another 2 hour nap at 4:30 but the day before he wanted no part of nap #2. I figure I still have some time with 2 naps, but I want to have an idea of what is normal.

That would be wonderful -- he hasnt taken a 3 hour nap since he was 12 weeks old!

DD's nap schedule seems to be changing these days too (she just turned 1). Some days she still does 2 naps...but more and more, she is taking one long nap around noon.

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
DD's transition to 1 nap a day was a nightmare It happened around 16.5 months I think. She was napping twice a day, and sleeping well at night. Well, then she started sleeping HORRIBLY at night and somehow with that horrible night sleeping, she transitioned to 1 nap a day...today it was 45 minutes only...the longest she'll do is 1 hour & 15 minutes usually.
She wakes around 6:30 usually, give or take 15 minutes or so.
Usually goes down for a nap between 10:45 or 11:45-- as I said, sleeps anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour & 15 minutes.
Up for the rest of the day, usually start the bedtime routine at 7pm, she's usually asleep by 8 or 8:15
So at night she's getting about 10 hours of sleep, generally wakes up exactly 10 hours on the button after falling asleep.

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
DD switched to a 1 nap day just after she turned one. For the first week or so she would occassionally take two, but then switched fully to one.
She generally wakes up between 6am-7am. In the beginning her nap was earlier (around 11) but then it slowly transitioned to later. She is 15 months this friday and now goes down anywhere between 12:30-1:30, depending on when she gets sleepy.
She will sleep anywhere from 1-3 hours, usually closer to 2.
She goes to bed between 6:45-7:45...usually around 7:30.
We fill our mornings to play dates, story times, library, etc., b/c our mornings are much longer than our evenings.

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
Hey kelly, I've been wondering this for a while...on the days he skips his afternoon naps I think "oh no, its coming! He is going to drop a nap!!" but then the next day he'll take 2 again ... so its been going on for a while here, since 12mos, and hes now 16mos and we're still doing 2 naps most days!!
wake up and bed time are consistent.
7am wake up 9am - 10:30 nap 2:30-4:30 nap (he seems to skip this if for some reason the morning nap ran late) 7pm bed

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
DS was a horrible napper until about 10 1/2 months. For those first 10 months he typically took 2 20 minute naps. They were like clockwork though. I prayed for longer.
Then around 10 1/2 months he started taking much longer naps in the afternoon and he stopped doing the morning nap by 11 months. Now he sleeps about 2 hours from 1-3pm. At night he sleeps from about 7:30pm-7:30am. We are very lucky.

Re: Nap question - Over 1 year old
DD is 18 months old and still takes 2 naps. The morning nap is still a necessity, but if we are out or something she can do without the afternoon nap. She goes to bed between 8-8:30pm no matter how many naps she takes.
