naps at 2.5?? what is your DC's sleep schedule at that age?
does your 2 and a half year old still nap? DS takes one afternoon nap (2 hours) at around 1, goes to bed around 8 and used to wake up at 7. now he's trying to push past 8pm and is waking up at 5:45
i'm trying to figure out if we should drop the nap altogether. today he didn't nap and was falling asleep at the dinner table

Re: naps at 2.5?? what is your DC's sleep schedule at that age?
My DD Reilly is 2 yrs 3 months and takes 1 nap per day. Usually it is around 11am but sometimes it is later in the afternoon. Most times it lasts about 2 hours. She goes down to bed at 7-7:30pm and wakes up between 6:30-7:30am but I do not go and get her and DD#2 until 7:30am.
Does he have his 2 yr molars coming in, causing his sleeping to be all out of whack? Maybe you can try to make his bedtime a little earlier at 7:30pm and do a nap right after lunch. I hope he starts getting on a more normal schedule for you!

don't drop the nap...i feel at that age they need a nap! (every kid is different, i know..) but i just feel they go go go all day and def. need one.
His schedule seems just a bit off now..i bet it'll be better soon. any chance of pushing the nap earlier in the day?

Re: naps at 2.5?? what is your DC's sleep schedule at that age?
DS is 2.5 and takes a nap (most days, reluctantly) for about 2 hours. I feel if he's sleeping 2+hours a day he still needs it! He usually wakes around 7:30-8:00. If he sleeps later, I usually wake him. I like to be out early in the am. Naptime is usually 1:30ish. Sometimes it takes him a bit to fall asleep. He will sleep until at least 4:00 most days but I wake him because if I let him sleep late, he tosses and turns at night. Bathtime is 8:00 and he's in bed about 8:40. I feel like his bedtime is too late for him not to have a nap, and I don't want an earlier bedtime because DH and I bathe both DS together and he gets home late. I also think that he's probably not too tired on certain days because he's not physically exerting energy since he's inside during the winter. Once the weather warms up and he's running around outside, I'm hoping the nap fights stop. But fight or not, I need his nap!

It started getting inconsistent at that age. Generally at daycare he would nap, but not as much at home on weekends. Some weekends, if he seems really wiped out, I will still put him down for a nap (he's 3 now) but he sleeps about 1/2 of the times I try.

DS is 2 yrs and 2 months and takes a 2-3 hour nap every day in the early/mid of the afternoon. He is getting his molars so his sleep during the night has been so crazy, he wakes more than my 3 month old! He goes to bed at night around 9pm and wakes for day 8am.

We are on a crazy schedule with us all being home the past few months but yes.....DS still naps. He is 2 1/2.
He naps about 5-6 hours after waking up for about 1-2 hours.
Let's say an average day: wake 8am nap 2pm asleep 10pm
He needs it still.

Re: naps at 2.5?? what is your DC's sleep schedule at that age?
DS is 3 years old. He wakes around 8:30 Naps around 1:30 (for about 90 minutes) Bed around 9pm
We are alittle more flexible now that in the past as he can do without a nap and be fine. But I am holding on to that nap as long as possible! I would say 4 out of 7 days he goes down. the days he doesnt its because we dont even try.
I will say on days he doesnt nap, bedtime is much easier, quicker process! But as a preggo SAHM I need that quiet time so I can't let him give up that nap!

Re: naps at 2.5?? what is your DC's sleep schedule at that age?
my dd is 2 years 10 months & wakes 8am, naps 1pm (1-2hrs), bed 8:30pm.
She is not overly tired/cranky if she doesn't nap, but she functions better if she does. If in the car around 12/1pm she still falls asleep.....she still needs her naps.

Jacen is on the same schedule. Goes to bed at 8pm and wakes at 7pm. Then he takes a 2 hour nap during the day.
Honestly i would just keep the same schedule and see what happens. maybe it's just a phase.

Re: naps at 2.5?? what is your DC's sleep schedule at that age?
Kaydyn is almost 3 and still takes a nap on most days. She has been trying to fight it lately, but still takes a nap about 5-6 days a week. She generally goes in around 1ish and sleeps for about 2 hours.
She goes to bed around 8:30/9 and wakes up around 7/7:30.
On the days that she doesn't nap she is a mess by 7pm so we know she def still needs to take one.

Re: naps at 2.5?? what is your DC's sleep schedule at that age?
thanks everyone!
DS got his 2 year molars before his second birthday so he has all his teeth. i can't blame it on that. and he's not sick at all.
the thing that kills me is i work full time and this 5:45 wake up call is KILLING me, especially on the weekend. yesterday DS didn't nap (we decided to try it) and he STILL got up at 5:45 he also got up (half asleep) at 1am because he was wet. i just can't do this while working!
if he would wake up around 7 like he used to i wouldn't mind. he's very active and runs around all day at home with his grandparents and in preschool 4 hours a week. i can't put him down much later than 8:30 because i need my down time too!

Both Johnny and Ry will wake up the SAME time too regardless of missing a nap or going to bed later! EVEN one night on vacation, we all went to bed at 11pm-guess who was up at 6:30?? Yep, Ryan. The saying "sleep begets sleep" is very true!!
If he is waking up that early right now, he should prob be napping earlier..like at noon. Try seeing if that helps. Put him down at noon, he'll prob wake up around 2, then bed at 8. I wouldn't keep him up later than 8 either...you defiinitely need your down time, its so important and i'm sure he will start adjusting again. Just when you feel helpless it starts getting better!

Re: naps at 2.5?? what is your DC's sleep schedule at that age?
My DD is 2y4m. She goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps until 7:30am. She naps once a day (usually between 12-12:30) for 2-3 hrs. Most days she's napping 2hrs now but sometimes she will take a 3hr nap depending on how she's feeling or how tired she is. She is religious about her nap though, she actually will ask to go take a nap as soon as she's tired. She's VERY regular with her sleeping but I am SAHM so that may contribute to her sleeping habits. I'm guessing if she were in daycare it might be a different story. But for now, she's not ready at all to drop her nap. She NEEDS it for sure!!
