NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
can u share where u live in and why u love it?
DH and i are still considering LI but the only places we know that have good school districts is Roslyn Heights, Glen Head, and part of New Hyde Park.
eta: oh, and we also know that jericho and syosset are great too.

Re: NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
We moved to East Wiliiston, part of the East Williston School District. We moved here because of the school's reputation as well as the charm of the town.. I grew up in the school district but in the town of Mineola...
FYI - Roslyn Heights is not a school district - residents of RH either go to EW schools or Roslyn

The following school districts are excellent:
North Bellmore North Merrick Bellmore/Merrick Wantagh Bethpage Massapequa
I am only going by my experience as a teacher and a nassau county resident for my entire life. My husband also teaches in Nassau.

Re: NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
i grew up in south seaford and i love this whole area (seaford/wantagh/bellmore/east meadow), but i have heard bad things about the seaford school district in recent years... so i was thrilled when we found a house in north seaford in the levittown school district, which i have only heard good things about.
we are very close to lots of major shopping areas, but the neighborhood is very residential and everyone is very nice and friendly.
it doesn't hurt that we are 5 minutes from my parents and 5 minutes from my ILs either!

Re: NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
i grew up in RVC and Baldwin and I loved the proximity to Queens, the quick train ride to Manhattan, close to the beach, good shopping and night life (RVC specifically)

Re: NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
There are a TON of other great school districts in Nassau and Suffolk that are just as good, if not better than the ones that you mentioned. You should do some more research if school district is a priority because you will find that a lot of towns on LI have great districts.

Re: NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
I live in Franklin Square, and I grew up here - but unfortunately we won't be able to stay b/c we cannot afford a house here
Franklin Square is really great and I cannot thing of one "bad" area in it. The schools are really great and it's still a short train ride to the city.
Great restaurants, bars, entertainment, etc.
No complaints whatsoever, and if you can afford the areas that you mentioned in your first post, you can definitely find a home in that same range!
HTH....I highly recommend it here!

Re: NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
I live right on the border of Bellmore and N. Bellmore - N. Bellmore Elementary schools.
We just moved here in April, and I love it so far. Nice neighborhood where people seem fairly down-to-earth. Near major parkways: I live a mile north of Sunrise highway, a couple of miles south of the Southern State, and in between the Meadowbrook and the Wantagh. Near the train..could walk in 15-20 min. if we wanted. Close to lots of shopping. Excellent school district 10 min. from in-laws, which is helpful. I'm on a cul-de-sac, which I love.
I can't say anything bad about my area.

Re: NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
I grew up in Levittown but DH & I bought in Wantagh (Levittown schools) 3 years ago.
-Very family friendly neighborhood -Close to all major highways (DH Commutes to NYC). -Walking distance to shopping (if needed) & less then 2 miles from Hempstead Tpk -Young families turning over the neighborhoods -Everyone taking pride in their houses -We are in a dead end & the only house so it is very nice & peaceful -We use to be 3 miles to my parents (they moved last year) but we are only 5-20 minutes from all of DH's family -quaint houses

Re: NASSAU residents: why do u love ur area?
thank you all for your suggestion! i'm going to start looking into these. problem is that all our friends and DH's families are in Queens (mine are all out of state), so it might be hard to convince him too far out. we've been looking in queens but nothing really hit us yet for our price range. we'll see what happen. plenty of time since we're in no hurry to move.
thank u all again

Ditto...I have lived here for 10 years. I am in the Dogwood Park or Morton Estates section on FS.
The district is VS #13. My son goes to Willow Road and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the school. ANd I am a former teacher, so that says a lot.
Love this part of FS. Such a great neighborhood.
