natural stone in shower
Im thinking about doing one wall of natural stone in the shower. does anyone have this? I'm sure i would have to seal it. how often do you seal it? how does it clean? and what do you use to clean it?
thanks!

Re: natural stone in shower
We looked at it when we did our master bath and our contractor told us we were nuts. There isnt a good way to seal it and it has a lot of crevacices that will grow mold.

Re: natural stone in shower
we are doing a tumbled natural stone in our upstairs bath and it will need to be sealed. The tile store recommended once a year in the shower, but we'll see what happens. It does not have the crevices that the once you linked to does though.

Re: natural stone in shower
We have tumbled travertine in our master bath. We sealed it once 8 years ago and haven't sealed it since. BUT we squeegee our shower after each shower (I would do that regardless of the type of stone) and it looks the same as it did when we first had it installed.
In regards to the type of cut/surface you want, I agree with your contractor...preventing mold/keeping it clean will be a nightmare regardless of whether you seal it or not.

We are also redoing our bathrooms now and were thinking of natural stone for an accent wall until we realized it needs to be resealed about once a year. We decided against it after finding that out.
