Need a BTDT Mom!!Anyone told they had a narrow Pelvis??
Sorry to crash but just got back from my Dr. appt. Im 38 weeks 5 days. I was told that I have a narrow pelvis and a baby measuring pretty big, 8.5lbs (so they say). Dr. told me I have a slightly higher risk of c section b/c of this.
Also the baby isn't dropping (b/c of the narrow pelvis) and no progress in the cervix either!!
Just wondering if anyone else was told this and was able to push out their baby or if you had to have a c-section.
Thanks!!

Re: Need a BTDT Mom!!Anyone told they had a narrow Pelvis??
I was given 5%-30% chance of being able to vaginally deliver my baby. I did not like those odds and opted for a c-section because I did not want to push forever and end up with a section anyway. My dr made me feel a little bad about not trying to push. When she was pulled out of me the doctor said there was NO WAY I would have been able to get her out. She was 8 pounds at 37.5 weeks.
My pelvis is not narrow but my pelvic bone tips down so it is "narrow" the other way I guess.

Thanks for the reply!! Yeah my dr. wont schedule a c-section b/c she said they could be wrong on the weight and stuff and wants me to try naturally. My inital instinct is to agree but like you said... I really don't want to put myself and my baby thru a horrible stressful delivery only for them to give me a c-section anyway!!

Yes I was told the same and I chose a C/S I didn't want to go through hrs of labor and end up with a C/S. I also had other issues, but that was the main reason what made me (and the dr) decide to have a C/S

Mr. Dr. doesnt seem to be giving me the option. How big did your baby turn out to be?

When she was pulled out of me the doctor said there was NO WAY I would have been able to get her out. That's exactly what they told me after they pulled DD out and she was 7lb 14 oz. But she was soooo chubby

Same here...I pushed for 2 hours, with excruciating back labor, only to end up with a c-section because DS couldn't come out.

As fas as I know that's very normal for DR's not wanting to perform a C/S without letting you push first . In my case my dr agreed bc I also have a heart condition. BUT I was admitted in hospital few times with early labor and every single dr there tried to change my mind and really fought me on my decision to have a C/S.

Ohhhh Ok I see why you actually opted for it without pushing.

Re: Need a BTDT Mom!!Anyone told they had a narrow Pelvis??
My SIL was told this. She was induced with her first but the baby never dropped and she never made it past 1 or 2 centimeters. I don't really know the specifics since we're not close. Sorry!

I was going to edit above, but.... my cardiologist said I was fine to push, but I was too scared at that point and didn't want to push I just didn't wat to go through all the pushing and putting baby in distress .... I'm sure my dr would have really fought me on it if not for the heart problem.

Re: Need a BTDT Mom!!Anyone told they had a narrow Pelvis??
My sister was told she had a narrow pelvis. She labored for 29 hours with my niece and she couldn't descend because she couldn't fit. She ended up with a c-section. My niece was 9lbs 8oz. She was told she could try again with her 2nd but if he was as big as his sister he wouldn't fit. She opted for a c-section 2nd and 3rd time and had over 9lb babies both times. She never would have been able to do it on her own.

Re: Need a BTDT Mom!!Anyone told they had a narrow Pelvis??
Thanks for all of your replys!! I really appreciate it. My fear is that I'll be in labor forever and then just get a c-section anyway. I guess I can really control it either way.

My SIL had a "narrow" pelvis and she had to have a c-section. Not everyone with a narrow pelvis has to have a C but she did.

Re: Need a BTDT Mom!!Anyone told they had a narrow Pelvis??
I was told the same thing and ended up giving birth vaginally! It did take 4 hours of pushing and the help of a vacuum but I did it (I was 2 pushes away from a c-section). It also helped that my DS was tiny-only 5lbs 15oz. I was told it would've def been a c-section if he was any bigger.
Good Luck

Re: Need a BTDT Mom!!Anyone told they had a narrow Pelvis??
I was told by 2 drs that I would need a C-section for my narrow pelvis.
I had 2 vaginal births naturally and each one was like 15 minutes so I am very glad I decided to try pushing.

Re: Need a BTDT Mom!!Anyone told they had a narrow Pelvis??
Yes I was told I had a narrow pelvis and I was because I have never had a narrow anything! But anyway, my baby was big on all the growth sonos and since my pelvis is narrow my dr was talking about not letting me go beyond my due date and that I needed to prepare myself for the possibility that it might end in a c section especially because DD was not dropping at all at that point.
well my water broke at 38weeks and I went into labor. My dr decided to let nature take its course for awhile but when I did not progress at all for 12 hours even after cervadil etc...and the baby was so far up still (and her heartrate would drop periodically), I had a c section.

I was told this as well and needed a CS. I was devestated but afterwards they told me I never would've pushed her out so I felt better about my decision.
