Need a fun restaurant rec in NYC for a group of people
It's my DH's 30th birthday in two weeks and I am surprising him at dinner with his closest friends at a restaurant (we'll go out on his actual birthday just the two of us- like he thinks we are doing that night  )
Any recs for a fun restaurant? It will just be a small group of people because I'm only inviting his closest friends he has since he's a kid.
Nothing too pricey... but good food and lots of fun!!

Tortilla Flats is pretty fun. They had an impromptu drinking game for the birthday people in place when we went there!
They do get pretty busy, so make a reservation or get there early to put your name down.

All of the above are great suggestions!! Other fun places great for groups and not too expensive:
Buenos Aires (if you like meat! ambiance is very lively!) http://buenosairesnyc.com/
They don't take reservations, but there is a bar next door you can wait at for your table!
Ninth Ward
Very N'awlins...cool atmosphere and food is sooo good. a bit casual but inexpensive...more of a bar.

In midtown, there is Carmine's and Tony's di Napoli. Both are Italian and family style.
I had my bachelorette party dinner at Suenos. It's a Mexican restaurant on W 17th Street. It was very good.
I also recommend Agave in the West Village- it's Southwestern and the food and frozen margaritas are awesome!
