Need a new bank for my checking account

Had WAMU, loved them, HATE Chase with a passion, they told me it would take 3 business days to clear a money order, where as WAMU is was ready immediately. I have BOA as well but need another bank, any suggestions?

I use wachovia. I moved all my ING $$ there to a money market, as well as having my checking / savings account / business checking there.

customer service is always helpful and i havent had any issues with their service.

I have my $$$ with BOA. They are awesome- better than WaMu. I had WaMu before swithcing and everything clears much faster than WmMu which is surprising. (WaMu was pretty quick too.)

I had Wamu and loved them too, as I HATE chase as well. I made the switch to TFCU and love them!! they don't clear your paycheck same day like WAMU did, but other then that, I don't see to many differences.

I hate Chase too - with a passion. Had WaMu and Chase has been nothing but horrible. Added fees, reduced services and their idea of customer service is to say "I'm really sorry" and "someone will get back to you in 5 - 15 days". They cut our HELOC, took 9 days to tell us and won't honor the check we wrote during that timeframe where they didn't notify us. On top of it, in talking to them and reviewing their stats, it turns out that they have completely wrong information on our account and they admit that they would not have dropped the HELOC if the information had been correct, but now they tell me I have to fax over info and it will take several days for them to review it and get back to me. I'm in touch with a lawyer on a class action suit against them.

I have Wachovia and am very happy with them. I also have accounts with HSBC, but my more active ones are with Wachovia. I have no complaints about HSBC, but I don't nearly as much banking with them as I do with Wachovia.

I've had Citibank for 12 years and been happy with them. Whenever I have had any issues, they have addressed them promptly. DH was with another bank previously and when we first opened a joint account, I suggested Citibank and he has been very happy - so much that he moved his personal account to them a few years ago.

Also, we like that there are Citibanks everywhere, whereas some of the other banks it's hard to find one of their ATMs or branches when you're in a pinch.

I use Teachers federal credit union and i love them. I dont get killed with fees there. You dont have to be a teacher to use them.

I love TD (formerly Commerce). Not a ton of locations but they are always open.

Had Chase and couldn't stand them. I currently use Suffolk County National Bank, but am thinking of moving to Astoria Federal, where my sister works.

another good thing about teachers federal credit union, is that you can use any federal credit union to do your banking and atm transactions for free. so just because you don't have a teachers FCU around the corner, doesn't mean its not easy to do banking there. They have truely free checking, as long as you have a savings account with $1 in it. No catches, or requirments.

I'm with Bethpage Federal Credit Union and couldn't be happier. We even have our mortgage through them.

Capital One, they have the rewards program and I just found out that with the bank/debit/credit card they will contribute a portion to a charity, I picked the March of dimes

Capital One wasn't a choice, it was because they took over Northfork, but I'm happy with them

I am with HSBC and have no complaints with them. I have been with them forever! My business banking is with BOA and honestly I can't stand them.

I have WAMU too but I have a CD with Capital One and no problems. My mom has her checking account with Capital One and no complaints and there is one right on Portion Road.

I am with BFCU and extremely happy with them!

although I am not sure you would get instant availability on a money order with them.

Many banks/credit unions won't clear money orders right away anymore.

I say go with your local credit union.

We have Astoria Federal which I hate, Teachers Federal and Chase which I love!

I'm with TD and I love that they are open 7 days.
