Need advice! Feel totally overwhelmed
I've been lurking and reading some of your posts, which have been quite helpful to me in this experience. I have a 2 year old, but we have been trying for baby number two. I have had a few miscarriages before, but never really had trouble getting pregnant with baby #1. This time around, I'm having trouble getting pregnant. My Dr. wants me to do Clomid and recommends doing iui with that. He also said if I wanted to I could just BD and see what happens. I feel like if it doesn't work this time with just having BD i'm going to be really upset and wonder why I didn't just jump to IUI. I'm also concerned that I'll have multiples with IUI, and I would really rather not have to do the IUI.
Please help me make a decision! I feel a little overwhelmed and am not sure which step to take at this point. Do I just try the BD or would you go straight ti IUI?

From what I understand, the IUI itself doesn't increase your chances of multiples, but rather the medication that they usually give you at the same time can make you produce more than the normal 1 egg and that's what increases your chances. Also the IUI is timed very carefully in conjunction with ovulation.

Re: Need advice! Feel totally overwhelmed
the chances of having multiples is caused by clomid, not from the difference between BD and IUI. clomid can cause multiple eggs to be released which is what causes multiples. you need to be closely monitored by a doctor while on clomid. IUI will increase your chances of conceiving by about 7% over timed BD. i did all timed BD for 6 cycles before moving to IVF. to me 7% wasnt enough to make me lose the fun of BDing, especially since i was on so many meds that i needed SOME part of the process to be fun. i did get pregnant twice that way but both were chemical. i ended up getting my sticky BFP through IVF. good luck!!
