NEED ADVICE QUICK
I am leaving in an hour to drive to wisconsin to take Sophia to one of the top SMA doctors in the US....she cant fly so we have to drive the trip will be like 16 hours, what is the best way to keep my milk cold in the car, we have those dr browns travel bags but the ice pack only stays cold for 8 hours.....I am pumping and feeding her a bottle (she cannot have formula at all) and since I havent been BF she will not latch anymore.....Thank you

Re: NEED ADVICE QUICK
The only thing I can think is maybe take a cooler of ice and stop along the way (every couple of hours) and keep filling the ice up.

Re: NEED ADVICE QUICK
I agree.....keep a cooler packed with ice and your milk should stay cold enough.
Along the way just stop quickly and get new bags of ice.
ALL the best to you guys!!!!

I agree -- and you can stop every few hours to get new ice if it starts to melt.
Good luck Catherine. Always in my prayers

Re: NEED ADVICE QUICK
Freshly expressed BM can stay at room temperature for a number of hours. Are you pumping and then giving her THAT milk? If so, you don't need to refrigerate at all.

Re: NEED ADVICE QUICK
Definitely use a cooler with ice. I used to camp all the time and it would keep frozen meat frozen for 2-3 days.
Many prayers for your journey and your DD!!

Re: NEED ADVICE QUICK
I don't have any advice but I wanted to wish you and baby Sophia well.
Drive carefully! God bless all of you!
It's none of my business but if you're going to the Children's Hospital in Madison, you're in very good hands.

Re: NEED ADVICE QUICK
If you go to the dollar store they have those crushable ice packs for sports injuries, you can activate them by crushing them. You would normally carry them in a first aid kit. Being a mom of 3 boys, I keep stock of them. lol They are small enough to fit in a small bottle bag. Have a safe trip!
