NEED ADVICE: starting milk before a year
Okay, my DDs are almost 11 months. I am dying to stop formula and start milk. We switched peds, so they never got to go to their last appt. (we walked out of the ped office on account of the horrible dr.)
How many of you started milk before a year?
Is this a smart thing to do, w/o ped permission?
Need help! TIA

I EBF Julia for 11 months, my doctor told me I could put her on whole milk, and she should get it twice a day in a sippy cup, I would give her one in the morning, and then before bed. She had no problems.

i agree- she will be fine!!  i was putting half milk half breastmilk in her nite time bottle for her to get used to the taste, and i just weaned into milk this way...

We slowly transitioned around 11 months and was fully on it a week before first b-day - w/o ped's rec. When I told him at the one year well check - he said that was fine

I started milk at 11 months also without asking my pediatrician. Ryan tolerated it well and was ready for it.

We started at 11 months. My ped had told us at our 9 month appt to do it at 11months and see how it goes. I put formula in sippies for a few days and then put milk in the sippy cups instead. Within a couple of weeks they were settled.
Sorry to hear about the ped. problem

I went cold turkey from formula to milk at 11 months. She is fine

I'm switching shortly after our formula supply is up. I may only start with a few ounces a day so they are still getting the benefits of the formula. Good luck - I hope its a smooth transition!
