Need advise... first few weeks home w/ newborn
Ok, so I need some advise b/c time is ticking. DH is a contractor and if anyone is married to a handyman they know that they have to do everything themselves. Fine, I'm used to it.
So, we moved to NJ is Sept. THere are 4 bedrooms. We, obviously, have the master. We put Mason is the middle room and just put his furniture in b/c we knew we'd eventually move him to the biggest room. The biggest room was an 80's haven! Puffy paint on the walls, built in bed with all built-in formica furniture, shag carpeting, etc. HUGE room, but needed a lot of work. DH didn't have time to get to it b/c he was still working on LI and staying at his parents. Now he's got some jobs in NJ and just getting around to DS's room. Mind you I'm 35 weeks prego. It's been gutted and the walls and ceiling (with the high hats) are primed. Still needs molding, paint, etc. Furniture and carpeting ordered and ready to be put in when the room is done.
So, time is running out and DH is taking on so much and he wants to do it all. No help. Not even from his father who's also a contractor Long story short... if the rooms aren't ready where do you keep the newborns stuff? My room? I plan for to stay in the room for the first few months anyway, but I don't want too much construction going on.
SOrry, just venting too b/c I love DH, but waiting for him to finish something b4 the baby is due seems impossible now. He works during the week and now our weekends are booked.

also adding that once the weather got warmer his priority is our pool. It's his new baby. LOL! I actually was able to talk him into having someone install the safety fence around the pool. DH didn't have the equipment and I said for "Liability" purposed I think we should hire someone

As someone who is married to a contractor i COMPLETELY feel your pain. I have a bathroom half done (we've been here 3 YEARS! ) and doors that look like they're going to fall apart (while the new ones are down in the basement ) Our stuff is always last. I'm used to it at this point. He doesn't even have a day off to ever try and finish though
As for the baby stuff. I would just take out the basics that you're going to need. I have the baby in my room and emerson is in her own room. I store things in emerson's room for the baby (both girls) and i even cleaned out a drawer in DH's dresser (lol) for some of her clothes that I dont want to keep with emerson.
wanted to add that i'm only in a 2bdrm Apt so i have no choice, but i would just take out what you definitely need and find a small place for it. They dont need all that much besides the necessities!

Thanks! Yes! We're last, but he has to do it himself b/c he doesn't trust anyone else. He can see imperfections in a wall that no one else can see so what does he do... start a project to put up new sheetrock. No project is fast. This is his famous line... "took a little longer than I thought it woud"

I have the same issue....DDs nursery still isnt finished and she is almost 3 months old!!! Luckily we have a really big dining room that we never use, so I set up a little nursery corner in there for her. It's the best we could do for right now. But it stinks, I have all her cute bedding and decorations and paint and I just want to get it done!
