Need Food Help for Party

I'm throwing my Mom a surprise 60th birthday party in a few weeks. We're going to be going on a surprise wine tour with 40 people total.

The morning of, I'm going to have DH run out and buy fresh bagels, so that way people can eat on the way out there. We'll have juice, cream cheese, butter, and mimosas.

I would also like to serve lunch when we get to the second winery, but I'm a little unsure as to what to do. My first thought was to buy a bunch of ready made sandwiches and just take out them there.

However, I'm wondering how I'm going to shove 40+ sandwiches into coolers. I'm wondering if it would be better if I bought a bunch of cold cuts, toppings, and different breads and just let people make their own sandwiches when we get out there. I think flat cold cuts and packages of bread would fit better in the coolers. What do you think of that idea?

I know that limo companies generally offer packaged lunches, but I think I can get more bang for my buck if I just do it on my own.

Regardless of how I go about the sandwiches, I'm also going to get some potato salad, macaroni salad, fruits, vegetables, chips, cake, etc. I'll also have soda and water, and I'll be buying bottles of wine for everyone at the wineries.

You don't need help! You have it covered!

I do think having cold cut platters with pickles, toppings, dressings, bread, wraps, etc.. would be NICER.. but it might be EASIER to just get some good heroes and pack them up.

I think it all sounds great! I might add some fruit to breakfast, but only if I could find a good deal and I could find some good fruit.

For lunch I think packing your own is awesome, but it could be more work then you need to take on. I agree a hero would be fine with everything else you have going on. If you have the time and money though doing your own is so cool, and people remember things like that...well I do at leastChat Icon

Love the idea of the 6 ft hero.

I also wonder if you can find a local deli that makes them near the winery you are gonna eat at and just have them delivered?

Yes, this is what I would do. Order 2 heros. An american /italian one and a specialty one from a local deli, have that delivered along with some chips/crackers/cheese platter and probably bring my own salads. This way you don't have to fuss over getting the cold cuts out, arranging them, etc. Sounds awesome! We did a limo winery tour recently and it was great!
