Need formula advice ASAP!!!
Girls i don't know what to do. We started my DS on Similac Advanced formula and he became very constipated from it. We had our first checkup today and the doctor switched the formula to Enfamil Gentlease.
However my DS HATES it! He really hates it and he hasn't eaten much at all. Now its night time and he won't eat it. He'll take 3 sips and then thats it. THe rest he'll spit out.
What do i do?
Can i mix it with some Similac???? I need advice ASAP!

It's going to take him a little while to get used to it. I would try and mix it and see how that goes. Little by little increase the gentlease.
to add my DD was on Gentlease too and it was so much better for her belly. Different child after I started her on it.

I don't think there would be a problem with it. You can always call the doctor and ok it with him. Call the ped service and they will have dr call you back.

Re: Need formula advice ASAP!!!
When my son started getting constipated, my doctor recommended adding 1 oz of water to a bottle of formula, once a day. Since then, we haven't had any problems. My son is on Similac Advanced with iron. He is 3 weeks now. Ask your doctor if that is ok to try.

Re: Need formula advice ASAP!!!
It's typically the iron in the formula that makes them constipated. I believe Gentlease has the same amount of iron as traditional formula. If he absolutely won't eat the Gentlease, I would switch back and see if it works itself out. Babies have very immature digestive systems and it takes a while to work the kinks out. Good luck!

Re: Need formula advice ASAP!!!
Hayley was constipated from the Similac Advanced so I switched her to Similac low iron which they don't make anymore. But then she was really gassy so the Dr put her on Gentlease and she had no problems.

Re: Need formula advice ASAP!!!
Thanks girls! At around midnight last night, we mixed the formulas together and he finally ate something!
So that's what we'll do over the next few days and gradually decrease the similac. I just wish that the doctor could have told us this.
Thanks again!
