Need Help- Ferber method- Anyone tried it?
So, I just talked to the Ped about my little guy waking at night again and they stressed that medically he does not need the middle of the night feeding that he seems to want at 3:30am again. They suggested the Ferber method and are mailing me out a pamphlet about that. Is that the CIO method? Anyone try and have success or try and have no success at all? I'm just trying to make sure my little guy and his mommy are happy/healthy, which is not the case if we're both exhausted. Any help/ideas would be MUCH appreciated. Feeling a little helpless and disheartened today....

Re: Need Help- Ferber method- Anyone tried it?
Ferber suggests going in at five minutes, then ten minutes, then 15 etc- longer and longer.
We sort of did a modified CIO. He still wakes up once a night, usually just for a minute. I can't not go in- I have to go in right away. It's better to wake up once or twice a night for five minutes then to give a bottle but I'll never be able to do the full Ferber method.
Its a hard decision and very hard to do! Good luck- eventually they all sleep through the night- at least by age five right?

Read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Dr. Weissbluth. Similar to Ferber, but better, IMO. Yes, it uses CIO.

I really hope you're right about eventually sleeping through the night. This is my first baby and seems hopeless right now. Especially since he was sleeping straight through the night for at least two months, and has now started waking up again...

Devin is 6 months old on Friday, 10/12. Just talked to the babysitter and he has been VERY fussy all day, VERY unlike him. I don't know what's going on, but every time I take him to the doctor he gets a clean bill of health. What could this be?????

I don't know if you are open to related feedback, but at 9 months, my baby still doesn't make it through the night without a feeding. Its more then pacifing himself, he really eats. I am sure they won't starve to death if you skip night feedings, but I can't handle him crying for food.

Re: Need Help- Ferber method- Anyone tried it?
Thank you all for your help/advice. We had another long night. He was very restless all night, woke up several times, but soothed himself back to sleep. He finally got up at 4:50am this morning and I could tell by his cry he was not going back to sleep without me. So I gave him some Tylenol and a bottle and he went back to sleep. He gets a bottle usually about 6am every morning anyway before he goes to the babysitter, so is it really a big deal if he eats an hour earlier???? It's all so confusing. I just wish the little guy was back to his normal happy self.
