need help! New milestones = bedtime nightmare

Sophia is 9 months old (well, she will be tomorrow Chat Icon )

Shes been an on/off STTNer, but has been pretty consistent for about a month since we started CIO. We'd put her down, awake, at about 830. She'd fuss for maayyybe 1-2 mins, then suck on her lovey and fall out.

Two days ago she rolled for the first time in the crib. It was waking from a nap so it wasnt a big deal. She didnt seem to mind much, actually played on her belly for a good 5 mins until shed had enough.

Last night when we put her down at bedtime she sat up Chat Icon and started playing with her lovey Chat Icon We watched her on the monitor as she played. Looked like she was talking to it, waving it around, babbled to it. Then the trouble started. She started to try to pull herself up on the rail. She has yet to pull herself up! She got frustrated and plopped down. Then the cycle started again. She wouldnt stop. Finally DH had to go in and lay her down. As soon as he was out she was back to it. Finally she just sat there and sobbed Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon holding her lovey, rubbing her face with it. This is how she soothes so I know that's a good sign, but it took 1 hour before she gave in. Any advice how to make this easier? She sat there sobbing MAMA/DADA for a solid hour. DH was almost in tears he felt so bad. He kept saying "I dont want her to feel lonely!!!!" Chat Icon I cant take the lovey away because that's how she soothes herself to sleep, but I cant help but feel like as soon as she sits up she thinks it's time to play with itChat Icon Everytime she gets up should we go right in and lie her back down, or just leave her alone completely?!

Chat Icon She says DADA, MAMA, NANA, and i swear she says "AT" for cat Chat Icon

of course, this is really just babble. I doubt she knows IM mama, or Anth is dada. She will say it on command though!

I'll say "Soph say NANA!" and she'll go "nanaNANA!" Chat Icon

I'll call you tonight, we'll work something out. The cougar needs to meet her man Chat Icon

Re: need help! New milestones = bedtime nightmare

It must be a Sophia thing bc my Sophia was STTN since 4 months but now at 10.5 months refuses to go in the crib at nite she screams, climbs around and thinks its playtime. The last 3 weeks have been hell at nite with her. She will nap in the crib during the day but at nite forget it. I am at a loss. I hope things get better for you.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

well, im no pro Chat Icon but i dont really think there is much you can do. Eventually, she will understand that regardless or sitting up, standing or laying down - once she is in the crib ... its sleepy time Chat Icon

dont feel sad. she has her lovey (which I wouldnt take) and she can soothe herself to sleep, you know that from the 1-2 months of CIO.

just something new that she will have to get used to.

(lets plan something for the three (6) of us! we can go there or you can come here!!) Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

DS did the exact same thing... except he would actually pull himself to a stand... and then have NO clue how to get down. I went in there a few times and tried to show him, but then he was just getting upset that I went in and left. So, I just let him figure it out on his own. I know it's hard, but she will get it.
