CIO for bedtime worked.....now naptime is a NIGHTMARE!

Ugh...what am I doing wrong?

We did CIO for bedtime a few weeks ago. Worked wondersChat Icon He goes down awake & doesn't cry or if he is sleepy or even fell asleep & wakes as I lay him down he doesn't cry!

What the H E L L is going on for naps? He has to passed out cold.....it takes like 45 minutes sometimes to get him to sleep then he sleeps for 30 minutes onlyChat Icon

Saturday morning I layed him down 3 times & all 3 he woke & screamed bloody murder.

Sunday morning nap he was passed out & stayed alseep.

Sunday afternoon I let him CIO......he screamed like 20 minutes & slept an hour.

I am even skipping Music Together today because this is just too muchChat Icon 2 times he was out cold & woke. It has now been 30 minutes on & off cryingChat Icon

Any suggestions for naptime CIO?

He has never taken to any type of "lovey".

He takes a binky & that seems to be his thing. We put like 12 in the crib. He fiddles with them as he falls asleep. We even made binkys naptime & bedtime only (no more during the day at all!!) thinking it would signal sleepy time.

Re: CIO for bedtime worked.....now naptime is a NIGHTMARE!

I had a much harder time with CIO at naptime than for bedtime.

I think it took me almost 2 weeks before it started working at nap time. he cried for nearly an hour the first time, 45 minutes the next before going down.

Also, if he woke up before an hour, I would just leave him up there and he would cry for 15-20 minutes and then go back down.

I have to make sure to read his sleepy signs really well and not put him down too early or too late.

No suggestions other than just too keep consistent.

DS now naps for 2 hours and goes down without a whimper for naps!

Re: CIO for bedtime worked.....now naptime is a NIGHTMARE!

Now I might be totally off base since your DS is almost 1 and mine is 5 months, so forgive me if this is wrong.

We just started sleep training 2 days ago, because he was sleeping with us, ((yes bad mommy)). We couldn't do full on CIO because of his age, but we put on his aquarium in his crib with his humidifier ((white noise)), binky. We did the 5 min. rule because of his age, but I think this could possibly work with your DS.

Start a routine with him IN his crib, so he knows when its time to go to sleep. Now I can just be talking out of my butt considering we just started 2 days ago, but he actually is napping in his crib today ((twice lol)). Couldn't hurt. GoodluckChat Icon
