NEED HELP!!! RE: Mold issues in rental home
We are having such major issues with our landlord which we will be dealing with in court, but now we have a new issue.
We have discovered black and some red mold all over our door frames in every doorway of this house that we're renting. We have notified the landlord and he just says he'll stop by to fix the mold by wiping it with WD-40. I'm sorry, but you can play around with mold. We mentioned this problem to our landlord months ago and he said it was just dirt. Well, now we've noticed it in more than one spot. It's all over the doors and possibly by my son's vent in his room on the ceiling. We are out of there regardless. We have had enough and have enough on our side to prove in court. This is just the cherry. I have contacted all local agencies and nobody will help us. My family's health is at stake and no one seems to care. My landlord is emailing me threats and nobody seems to care. I'm trying to get a restraining order against him and nobody will let me unless I pay a lawyer to file it with the district court and hope that the judge will sign off on it. I mean. I just can't believe all of this. Why won't anyone help me??? I want out of that place. I want someone to come to the house to see about the mold. I would have to pay for someone to come to the house. I can't afford that. It's hundreds. Why should I have to pay for it? Do I just need to take him to court over all of these issues? Is there anyone else I can contact regarding the mold? Please I'm soooo upset and worried about us living in these conditions. I am in NC but someone has to know something I can do. He can't just think he can come over and wipe it off??? It needs to be professionally removed. I can't believe this. Also, no one will return phone calls.

Sorry to hear this. I am a little confused, what are you looking to do? Sue him for mold-related health issues, or just to hire a remediation company to remove the mold and replace the sheetrock?

If you are already dealing with him legally, I'm not sure what else you can do. Can't you just tack this issue onto the rest?
Do you have a lease?

I would try to hire someone to do the testing, I know it costs money, but it sounds like you will need this info to prove to him and make him pay to have it removed.
