Need help/suggestions regarding coordinating outfits for family pictures

So I will admit that my DS is 3 and we have never taken a single professional picture taken.

I have arranged for a photo shoot around Thanksgiving because my brother, SIL and neice are going to be in town for the holiday.

We are going to have some family pictures taken of the following group:

Me, DH, DS, DD
My brother, SIL, neice
My mom and dad

So that will be a total of 9 people and I have NO idea how to coordinate outfits for that many people. We know that we don't want everyone to be too matchy, matchy.

But does anyone have any suggestions for a fashion-challenged person such as myself?

Well, I know you said you do not like matchy matchy, but I'm always partial to the jeans and white shirt look for a group...

Even if it's casual pics taken by yourself, the uniformity makes it look more "photo shoot". Albeit cliche.

If you want to separate each family, keep blue jeans (or khakis) as the constant and do white shirts on one family, navy on another and black on another (or any colors you'd like/have).

It does not have to be the same plain tee shirt. A sweater with a stripe or different tones of the same color. Something to keep each person unique. Look at what you have. We did a grandkids shoot for my mom in jeans and white and one of my nephews wore a white graphic tee inside out so you could barely see it.

To add some color, girls can wear a dress that is mostly white...

Adding sweaters and layers of brown tones looks really nice too...

Maybe not matchy but coordinated...

Have mom and dad wear a brighter color so they are highlighted in the group shot...

Or have everyone wear the same hair style...

everyone should just wear jeans. for the tops stick with brow, navy, hunter green, beige, dark grey. this way no one stands out with orange or something like that!
