Need Help with Cat Issue

so we (Pokey, Maggie and Myself) are staying with my BFF in her apartment for a month or 2 while we look for a bigger place for us all to move

pokey is so spoiled

he went from being the most well behaved cat- to a nightmare

my friend closes the door to her room at night- and that upsets him greatly

in my old apartment I had a guest room that I would keep the door closed on- this was never an issue

he keeps trying to get in the door- ALL NIGHT

I had to put him in his crate the last 2 nights- and then he tried to escape from that and cried

I don't know what to do? if there is anything I can do?

do I just have to keep waking up every hour till we move?

My male cat has issues with closed doors also. He opens the bathroom door when I'm in there and has attempted to do this to my father too when he was over .


The only thing I can think of is maybe creating an area for him no where near your friend's room with his toys, food, etc.

It's probably a way of him getting out his stress from the move and all the changes to his surroundings.
Is the door open during the day?
If its open during the day, I'd close it. This way he will get used to it always being closed.

One of my cats used to meow outside our door and we just ignored it as annoying as it was, and she stopped after a few days.

we got home late last night and we just kept it open

he walked in- then walked out

he was over it and back to his old self!
