need hospital advice- 4 months pregnant
I'm almost 41/2 months pregnant and currently go to suffolk ob/gyn and am scheduled to have the baby at st. charles. My friend recently had a baby there and my husband is freaking out bc he found out that he cant stay overnight. Does stony brook allow the husbands too? I also didn't really like how strict they were with visiting hours and that you had to share a room with somebody. I am not that crazy about my current doctor b/c i see all of them in the practice so i wouldn't mind switching to a new doctor that delievered at stony brook- i just don't know who. I wanted a female doctor and just want to see one doctor throughout my pregnancy. Does anyone have any advice on new doctors and switching this late as well as the differences between st. charles and stony brook?

Can you deliver at Mather? I use Suffolk obgyn and Im not PG but have been in both St Charles and Mather recently for surgery and found Mather to be wonderful. THey were so friendly and I felt like they ran things better over there. I dont know anything about the labor and delivery there but if its anything like their OR dept then I would go there.

Re: need hospital advice- 4 months pregnant
I delivered at both St.Charles and Stony Brook ,and neither one was strict about the visiting hrs ! Last yr I had Eva and there were a ton of people at all hrs of the night ! My hospital neighbor had her husband there all night and if I didn't have other kids my Dh would have stayed ! I have to say though I like St. Charles alot better and if my insurance would have covered it I would have went there again !

i just want to suggest that you find a practice with atleast two doctors... my first preg i had only one doctor and if i had been even 2 days later then i would have had a random doctor because he was away

I am also glad I have more than one doctor. I go to three village womans health. There are 5 doctors total, but they are all so nice. My main doctor is Dr. Soviero. I love her! And they deliver at Stony Brook. Yes DH can stay there overnight. My aunt delivered at st charles and they wouldnt let her Dh stay? So maybe some people are allowed and some arent? Also they were strict with the visiting hours at night.
