OK, I had a similar question while pregnant with my first...regarding hospital feedings
When Katherine was born I BF her 95% of the time--she got one bottle of formula during the first "middle of the night" feeding. I started this in the hospital. There was a 1am and a 5 am feeding--I only took her for the 5am, so I could get some rest. Now I'm thinking of having the nursery keep him/her for both overnight feedings, but BF the rest of the day.
You know with a likely c/s and a 20 month at home---mom needs her rest
So, did any of you keep this schedule in the hospital? Any advice? Did baby BF well during the day then?

Every baby is different. I've known moms that have been successful and unsuccessful with this schedule. I suggest you try it the first night. If you find the baby is not latching on as well after that then you should 86 the formula feedings if you really want to continue bf.

I was going to ask the same question. With DS I decided to BF durning the night the first day I was their and the times were 12am, 3am and 6am. Well he got really lazy at night he ate at midnight the 3am feeding didn't go as planned so I told the nurse he had some formula and not to bring him back at 6. The next night I did the 1 and 5am but I BF first then gave him the bottle. I think it confused him first and I think this time I am going to suck it up and really try to do all the feedings and not give any formula. I also wasn't to successful with DS so that is why I might be feeling like this. I would see how you feel and see how the baby latches. If the baby latches right away then it might not be so bad durning the night.
