Need hugs please
I've posted before about my grandmother being diagnosed with cancer. She entered a hospice 2 weeks ago, and has been doing very poorly. Today, the doctors told my mom that it is likely that she will die within the week. I don't want her to suffer anymore - she has been in so much pain. At this point, I feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I visited her on the 7th, and it was awful. She kept telling my mom to let her go, that the pain was too much, and told her to take good care of her family. I know I should probably go back there this week to see her, but I really don't want to go back there. She's sedated and in a deep sleep, and I don't want to remember her like that. I just want to remember her walking down the aisle at my wedding last year. 
ETA: My grandma is 99 and has lived a good long life. She has seen two of her grandchildren married, and two great grandchildren born, and I am so grateful for that. I really wanted her to make it to 100 though. We were going to put her on Willard Scott!

Jackie , I am so sorry to read about your grandmother... I know there are never the right words to say to make this any easier but here are some of these I will keep her (and all of you) in my prayers

I am so sorry to read about your grand mother. I know it is very hard to lose someone you have been so close with. I went through something like what you are going through now, with the exception that it was my mother. She passed away on November 8th 2004 and I will never forget the last few days of her life, even if she was laying in a sedated sleep in the hospital. I am glad I was able to spend that time with her and was able to be there for her when it was her time to go. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life, and still to this day it feels surreal, but I would not of changed anything that I did those past weeks, and I am glad that I was able to be there for my mother the way she was always there for me in my life.
I will never forget the way my mom looked at my wedding, just a few months before her death, and when I think about her I think about how happy she was at the wedding, and how happy she was in life. That is what gets me through the day.
I guess it is up to you in the end.....what you are going to do. I would think about it really good, because this is not something that you can redo. It is good to say goodbye....to someone that you loved, but people have different ways of doing it.

I am sooo sorry Jackie! I know how hard it is to see her suffer like that. It is TERRIBLE.

Oh Jackie!! I know how you feel. I did not visit my grandfather in the Veteran's Home in the last year or 2 he was there....I could not stand to see him stare at me blankly (Alzheimer's).
I remember him the way he was at family dinners and parties, not as a sedate, silent, shell of a man.
I hope your grandmother the best and that she does not suffer in her fight with cancer.
