Need opinions on 1st birthday party location please...
OK so long story short - I am the type that doesn't want to do a big hoopla for DD's 1st bday party. Would love to just do pizza and cake for family at our home but DD's bday is in summer and we live in a condo with no outdoor space...family is too big to have them all crammed inside on what hopefully will be a nice summer day. I don't want to aks my parents if I can do it at their house...they are mid-renovations on certain areas of the house and I know this would stress my mom out having people over. DH wants to do something...I do not. I was fine doing my family at my parents and then seeing his family the next day at his mom's...he thinks it's wrong to do it separate like that. So.....she is only turning 1 so to have it out somewhere is hard. Do we just rent a room at a restaurant and do that? DH looked into a roll around/gym-type place...we've gone to this place for several of my nephews bdays but they were all for 3rd bday parties. This way we could invite our friends with kids but then the party is more for other people's kids - not mine/the bday girl. Is that weird? I mean DD can crawl around and stuff but there is def. more to do for the 2-4 yr old kids. I have a ton of nieces/nephews...they will all be there. And then basically we have the space of the room there to do just what I want to do - pizza and cake. I just don't know if it's silly to have a roll around/gym party for a 1 year old?
Thoughts please...WWYD...do the roll around place or just do a room in a restaurant somewhere.
IF we do roll around - I can invite friends with kids...it's really not expensive at all. Doing it just family alone in a restaurant costs more than the gym place.
Sorry for the long note....just so unsure which is the better option. If it were up to me alone I'd spend the day just DH, DD and myself and call it a day. DH really really wants to do something with all the family and close friends.
TIA!!!

I did a Gymboree party for DS and now I'm having one for DD. They gear it towards their age. Does the roll around place you have in mind do that? I had DS's 2nd party was a roll around party at our rec center but didnt do DD's 1st there because I dont think it's geared enough for littler babies.

Sorry: I'd do other (based on what you write).
Invite immediate family over to YOUR place (no matter how small) for some cake & coffee. Sing happy birthday. Take photos. It's cheap, not too stressful (depending on how many you count as immediate), and easy.
Sounds like what you want... and IMO... he's only going to be 1. I agree... gym parties are more fun for YOUR kid when they are 2 or 3.
A restaurant can be very $$$. I just found this out TRYING to get a place for a Christening. OK if you REALLY want it... but not necessary.
