Need opinions on the centerpieces please.
This is a bridal shower centerpiece. Theme is cupcakes. (Bride is obsessed with cupcakes.) Her colors are light blue, ivory and a little lavender. One of her main flowers is Hydrangea, so that is why they are on top.
Here is what I came up with so far:
(Nothing is permenent, so some things are off center a bit.)
Then my sister suggested that I needed to raise the 'frosting' up and show some cupcake. But I don't want yellow or chocolate showing because they aren't colors. So I wondered if I raised it up and added a thick lavender ribbon. (I obviously don't have the ribbon, so I used something about the size. Yep, a Nickelodeon bookmark.)
I also contemplated using a little bit of lavender in 'sprinkles' on the cupcake. (Bride is obsessed with sprinkles)

I love it with the little flower sprinkles but I don't think there's any reason to raise it up with the ribbon. I like the flowers sitting against the cupcake liner.

I don't think it needs to be raised up. When I saw the first picture I immediately thought it looked like a cupcake, without reading your post. I like the first one and the one you labeled "Lavender and other flowers which are a fusion of blue/lavender"
I've been watching the new show on TLC "DC Cupcakes" and I'm starting to be obsessed with them too!

I like the first one. I don't think you need to show any cupcake. 1-800 flowers sells that arangement and they just use flowers.

Kell, I agree...I wouldn't raise it up at all.

I like this one the best, I think it is really beautiful.
I don't like the ribbon idea, I don't think it will translate to being the "cupcake". I think the idea comes across much better with your base and the mound of flowers - very nice!

Oh yes. They are fake. It will take me two weeks to put these together in my spare time. By then, the flowers would be dead. 
Carnations came from Walmart. $3 for a bunch of 8. (But don't look for any in Suffolk for a while. I bought out 5 walmarts.  ) Hydrgangea came from Michaels (again, 4 stores were bought out for these.) and the little flowers were in bunches from Michaels. i just cut them off of each bunch.
The holders are from the container store. I had to paint them light blue with a craft spray paint.
In all, they cost about $15 for each centerpiece.

I had that thought. I was looking into a small rosebud that hadn't opened yet. But I couldn't find any. And after hitting about 20 stores for flowers, I was done.
