Need restaurant recommendation in NYC for my husband's milestone birthday
He said he wants French, definitely in Manhattan, something that offers seafood and great appetizers. He is a big foodie.  Nothing outrageous price wise, but definitely not casual dining.
It will be just the two of us.
I would really appreciate recommendations...

Some great less expensive options
Bobo

Casual options but great food (brasserie like)

Le Bernardin was going to be my suggestion.
Also, La Grenouille is another option
Both are pricey though. Jackets required at both, I believe.

Thank you, girls! Pastis is temporarily closed. 
I was thinking of Balthazar myself but of course by the time my husband decided what he wants, the only time they had left for dinner was 6:30. 
Sounds like we will be going to Bobo. We have never been there so it will be a good excuse to try it and I do like their menu!

Schillers liquor bar has the same owners as balthazar and is also a brasserie.
