Re: Need so me help with off beat names for my girl :)
I love the name Rowan. I dont think its one of the overly popular names, but I do know a little girl named Rowan also so it may not be as off beat as you were looking for, but its a beautiful name!

Re: Need so me help with off beat names for my girl :)
first off kudos for offbeat names. My DH and I are kinda in the same boat, we dont like the common traditional names.
i like Rowan, i can def see it for a boy as well though but you said you dont mind the unisex name. Eleanor is old fashioned to me but so uncommon now a days and very pretty. im not a fan of rhea (is it pronounced ria?)

I like names with historical meaning Rhea was the mother of Romulus and Remus the founders of Rome ( I am a big history buff) eleanor is just a vintage classy name I have loved for a long time and Rowan is gaelic for red berry tree ... My dh and I have spent weeks in Ireland and love the Gaelic language when we were in the deeper parts and Gaelic speaking parts
I love Rowan! Our DS's name is derived from a Gaelic name and its pretty off beat too.

This is so cool because I thought Rowan was going to be the least favorite.. interesting how the most feminine name is the least popular ..

Of these names I like Eleanor the best. If I end up having two daughters ever, we will probably name the second Eleni, so I'm biased.

The first two are cute but Eleanor???................REALLY don't like. I don't think it's "offbeat", I think it's just really, really old fashioned sounding. Not a fan. I do like the other two names though.

I like Rowan a lot. I also like Harper (which I think someone else suggested already) which seems to be along the same lines. I am not a big fan of Eleanor.

Re: Need so me help with off beat names for my girl :)
I really like Rowan!
I love offbeat names, my daughter is called Imogen, which when I visit my parents on LI and I tell people, they all say...oh, thats interesting.
I also like Eleanor, but I prefer Elinor, and Nell as a nickname.
There are some really lovely sort of off beat Welsh names that are really pretty! Mali, Seren, Eleri, Iola...also, some nice sort of Celticy ones, Orlaith (Orla) Bryony....
