Need some quick help - do kids need identification at the airport to fly?
We are flying Delta. The website says no, but I don't trust it so I wondered if anyone had any recent experience? TIA!

We flew southwest with 3.5 yo. We did bring a copy of the birth Certificate but nothing was ever asked for at either airport. We never had to show anything. hth

I've flown with DD 6 times and have always brought a copy of her birth certificate because she has a different last name then I do and I was never asked about it. 2 years ago (DD was 11) the guy just non-chalantly asked her "and your name is???" But that was it.

We always bring it but no one ever asks for it when we fly domestically.
When we flew the Caribbean, we handed the guy DS's passport. Not sure if he would have asked for it if we did not give it to him but we gave it to him with our passports.
I would still bring the documents just in case.

No you don't need anything unless they are a lap kid.

No. We flew Jet Blue and I didn't need to bring anything for my kids. I called ahead and was told the same.

I agree it is so weird that you don't need anything. but we brought DS's birth certificate anyway, jic. (also never asked for it!)

If they are under 2 and you don't buy a seat than yes. Otherwise children under 18 don't need ID. I always bring a copy of their BC just in case but didn't need it either time we flew (1st time was with Delta).

I brought their birth certificates every single time and never ever was asked for it. I think weve flown at least 20 times, so Id say your safe. I always bring it though just in case.
Oh and very often a child sat on my lap and they didnt ask either.

If domestic flight, no ID is required under the age of 16. International flights you need passport. I fly many times with my girls and I have never shown ID for them and they have never asked.
