Need some words of encouragement/advice-Been in early labor for 36 hours!
Oh my god, I can't take it anymore. I have been having early labor contractions for 36 hours now. Went to the doctor yesterday and was only 1 cm dilated! The contractions keep staying between 6-9 minutes and I can't go to the hospital until they are 5 minutes apart. The pain is getting so bad and I have been able to sleep at all for over 2 days now. Did anyone else have to wait this long for their contractions to come fast enough? How long can the doctors possibly make me hold out for, I need some sleep!

Maybe call your OB....I was also told not to come in until they were 4 minutes apart...and they never were. BUT.....the pain got so bad I was on the floor doubled over. I called my OB and told her I was coming in so they could give me something for the pain. Well, wouldnt you know it, when I got there I was 10cm! So my contrax never got into the 4 minute pattern...just more and more painful. Defintely call! Good luck!

good luck... hang in there! Definitely call your OB if you have any questions and dont be afraid to tell them that you feel you need to be seen.

Aw, hang in there!
I had contractions for 4 days, but there was also no pattern nor were they close enough.... On the fourth day I just couldn't take it and went to the docs office where I was 5 cm. At that point they told me most likely I was going to have the baby that night -and I DID!
If your trying to go natural, its best to be home anyway so atleast you can attempt to distract yourself, and not be hooked up to monitors and stuff.

I had a LONG labor with DS #1. My contractions were very close and I still wans't dilating. They ended up giving me pitocin which thanksfully worked after a couple of days of contractions.
I know this is the last thing you want to do, but have you tried walking? IMO, stay home as long as you can b/c once you get to the hospital they put in bed and make yous tay there with monitors.
Take a shower. Try to nap. Walk around your house. IT's a PIA but you'll get there!!!
