Need to brag (oh and my ridiculously off the cuff response to it) long proud mommy moment
I know.. daycare folks probably have a full book somewhere titled "Things to say to parents to make them feel good" and I'm sure they are all part-time if not full time actors that specialize in sounded sincerely happy about spending the day with my child...
that said.. I LOVE hearing the praise, grain of salt or not, but today took the cake!
Dropped her off today for day 4 of her new 'school' Montesorri Program
We were stopped as we tried to leave "aren't you Mr. & Mrs. XXX, AJ's parents"
She is just such a delight, really she is She's kind She's so happy and easy to please She's so helpful She's patient (this one I'm like my kid, no way) She has the full program down already (I had to ask later what this meant.) Apparently AJ knows all the rules already. Play is called 'doing a task/job/skill' and she has learned that she is able to pick any job she wants and play with at long as she likes. She will not take from others' jobs without saying please (something I've been working on with her). She also knows to put her toys/job away properly before moving on (again who does what?) She knows to put her mat down for snacks and lunch, she sets her area before she eats, puts everything away when she's done, washes her hands and face, and dries both. This last part I thought all 18-24mo did but the way she said it was like in awe so I wondered ... should I be proud?
She sleeps immediately when nap time is annouced, wakes up happy not grouchy. She never cries when she's ignored momentarily. She takes her turns without complaint. She loves to dance, blow bubbles (actually BLOW them, cause I said - you mean play - and she corrected me), She plays well alone and with others, she learns any new game routine quickly and can recongize new patterns. She love to solve puzzles and tries so hard to talk.
Ok.. seriously.. this is DAY 4 morning.. this means 3days of having my child.. are you kidding me?
It was early morning and my stupid lil brain came up with this...
"Are you kidding me, are we talking about the same kid.. this high, asian girl, with pigtails?"
Jim started to laugh and so did she.
Ended with saying it was a real pleasure to have her in her class. Now I'm so afraid she has set the bar so high for my little one!
But I'm glad to know she's having fun.
Jim and I were making fun of it later and said they are probably only setting us up now because they have a K-grade 3 program and thats $$$ because its a private school, so they are starting on us early if so.... good job!
but now its midafternoon and ya know what.. I am thinking about it and I am proud of my lil trooper!
ETA: and on a side note we (jim & I) were also saying thank god she caught us indoors with AC for this lil rant! haha
