Need to spend my HSA money any ideas?
I have $120 left on my HSA that will disappear at the end of the month and I have no idea what to spend it on.
1. My dentist is offering a Sonicare for $160. But it is only 1 brush. Costco sells 2 brush handles for only $80. To me it seems like such a waste to get it from the dentist.
2. I thought about taking DD to the allergist to get a skin test but the office told me that there is no way for me to pay the co-insurance until the bill comes back from the insurance company and they doubt it happen by the end of the month.
3. Prescriptions - I still have plenty of skin medicine for my daughter's eczema so we don't need that. No other prescriptions pending. The only thing is maybe an epi-pen. My daughter has never even had a real allergic reaction (other than some redness around the mouth when she tried a walnut but she spit it out) the one we have has an expiration of 12/2017
We could use it at CVS but we want to avoid that because I am worried that the HSA company will come back later on and question the purchases and whether it truly is covered so want to avoid that.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Need to spend my HSA money any ideas?
HSA rolls over year to year. Do you mean FSA?
You only need to incur the cost this year, you typically have until March/April to submit the claim.
I would print off an FSA eligible list band go to the drugstore. I’d stock up on medications at CVS going off the eligible list.

If your Epi-Pen is about to expire - I would get another one.

When I had an FSA, I was able to submit claims until March for the previous year. Otherwise, maybe get a new pair of glasses?

My coworker just got large first aid kits for gift for families that she buys for. Maybe something like that?

You need to buy an Epi-pen. Even if your child never had an anaphylactic reaction, that doesn't mean one would never occur. One reaction is not indicative of how the next would be.
We have at least 4 sets of unexpired Epi-pens at all times - weekend bag, my bag, day care, house.

At least for mine $500 rolls over to the next year. Check your plan. There was an option to offer either a $500 rollover or a 2.5 month grace period (not both). Not sure if this was mandatory or optional, but it does help if its under $500

Oh and even though for an FSA - you need to spend the money by the end of the month, you have until March to file a claim - so if you decide to take DD to the doctor for a skin test, even though the EOB won't be available until January, you can still submit it for reimbursement since the test took place in 2017.

My FSA wouldn't cover a Sonicare.
I'm trying to burn through ours and have stocked up on band-aids, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, and contact lens solution. Ours also covers massages and I'm going for one next week :)

Yes. But he said his child has an allergy, so he should have one.

Thanks for all the hints everyone. I always thought HSA rolls over but the name of this is "HSA" and it definitely expires at the end of the year. Very weird.
I bought new glasses earlier in the year so thats out. We don't need first aid stuff maybe sunscreen but not $120 worth.
Whats a vaporizer for? We have a humidifier.
We'll probably just buy the way overpriced Sonicare from the dentist (double the price of Costco for half the stuff) or get a new epipen
