Neighbor Vent

Would it weird you out if you knew the previous owners of your house visited your next door neighbor's when they were in town? And they tell you that they visited and were checking things out around the house? I feel like they (our neighbor's) are watching everything we do to the house (and even things we haven't done) and report back to them. It's very annoying. DH says that I shouldn't care but I just feel a lack of privacy. I know there is nothing I can do about this (besides putting up an 8 foot wall). I just wanted to know if anyone else would feel the same way I do.

Plus everytime we do speak with our neighbor all they do is talk about the previous owners and what they did and were going to do to the house...it's nice to know these things but after a while it almost makes me feel like I am still living in someone else's house

yea, i can see why you would feel this way!! my neighbor was telling about the previous owners as well.. eventually they stopped.. but i can see where you are coming from..

i would just ignore it ! of course you are going to make it your own! the previous owners moved out..what do they care anyway!!

some people are just weird or boring & have no idea what is appropriate conversation. As for the old owners, if they loved their new place they probably wouldn't care what happened to their old one as much!
My MIL can only talk about improvements she did to her house THIRTY FIVE years ago when anything about our house comes up. Its so annoying!

I knew the previous owners to my house (I grew up with their daughter) and I know that they visit the neighbors that they were friends with when they are in town. We've even invited them in once when we saw them. I don't think it's a big deal.

I would feel a litle weird about that. Our new neighbors, some of them, ask us "oh so what are you going to do with that new patio you put in"? ahhh sit on it with outdoor furniture. It was a really weird question. Instead of just saying "Oh I like that you added that patio". Sometimes we learn things about our house from our neighbors and then those things make more sense to us of why they look the way they do. Like the foot prints in our pool liner.....you can see that there are foot prints below the liner. It's because our neighbors helped the previous owners install the lined. I just bit my tongue on that one. So I think it's totally normal to feel a little weird when you know that your neighbors are reporting back. But harmless.

I wouldn't care bc my house looks 1000x better than it did before we bought it. I guess if the neighbors have a history together, it's normal. People get sentimental about weird things, why not a house they lived in? I know that when we were buyign they put in the contract that they were taking the DR light - it was the ugliest piece of nothing, go figure. If they wanted to come in and see your house, I'd find that weird but it sounds they are more curious about the house than you as the people living in it. If they were obsessed with you, it would be a different story.
