Nervous about first postpartum S-E-X

Okay, ladies, it has been 6.5 weeks and I still haven't gotten back into the "saddle". My midwife said my stitches haven't entirely disolved so I might want to wait a little longer. I personally am nervous and am happy she said to wait a few more weeks.

Anybody else really nervous about resuming a sex life after baby?

I don't want to wait too long and deprive DH, but I am so nervous!!Chat Icon

I'm such a slut I only made it 4 weeks! lol!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon But yes, I was a little nervous. And honestly, it wasn't 100% comfortable. Not painful, but not overly pleasant either. But trust me, it does get better and things will get as close to "normal" (considering you're now much more tired and have less free time) as you want.

The first few times hurt a bit and it probably didn't help that I was super tense. Just try to relax and take your time.

Re: Nervous about first postpartum S-E-X

I had C section, so I guess I can't really comment on it from the perspective of a woman who gave birth vaginally, but I can tell you that we waited a while longer because I was just extremely depressed. It took me a while to even want to think about getting back into it at all. Wait until you are ready. DH will just have to hang in there a little while longer.

I was definately nervous. DH was really understanding and I think that b/c we waited a little longer until I was ready it didn't hurt really since I was relaxed. You are definately not alone. Chat Icon

Re: Nervous about first postpartum S-E-X

I had post-partum medical issues so sex for us was not really part of the 6-week plan but my OB told me to use olive oil to "help" when things got better. Even though I had a c/s I had major scar tissue issues so it is a bit different but still olive oil was a new help tip for me so I wanted to pass it along.

I was but it was so worth it. Just take it slow and have some lubricant on hand - just in case you need it.

I was so nervous. I had two 2nd degree tears during delivery. The first time we attempted was at 8 weeks. It started to get painful so we stopped. The next time we tried, I relaxed a bit more and it was a lot better. It has got better with each time after that. I still have to remind myself to relax though and use lots of lube!

Re: Nervous about first postpartum S-E-X

We waited til about 8 weeks. I had a really difficult painful recovery, i also blew a stitch on my episotomy early on.

I think the anticipation of it hurting was actually much worse than the actual act.
The anxiety made me tense up and that made it more uncomfy.

Do it when you are ready, go slow and def use lube, especially since you are BF'ing-the hormones can make you dry down there.

Wow you all are so brave. I am 11 weeks pp and haven't done it yet!Chat Icon Part of it is due to the fact I've bleeding on and off. I think it is time to bite the bullet.

Re: Nervous about first postpartum S-E-X

all I can say is BE CAREFUL if you dont want #2 before the year's end!!!

my dr told me that after giving birth you are extremely fertile...i obviously didnt listen, and at my 6 week checkup my dr yelled at me bc I was PG AGAIN!!!

(perhaps you can find other ways to help DH along till youre readyChat Icon ?!)

My midwives made sure to tell me that I need to think of birth control and they advise an 18 to 36 month space between babies for maximum health of the mother.

I have known a few people to end up in your predicament. DH's cousin announced her second pregnancy at her son's christeningChat Icon
