Never had Indian food and going to The Curry Club
for lunch. What is a good first attempt? Is it expensive there?

Re: Never had Indian food and going to The Curry Club
Never been there, but my IL are Indian and if you have a sensitive tummy take something before you go. There is something called Roti, its like a pita almost with a curry paste inbetween it, its ok basically its a staple for the food. DH uses it to "pick up" all the other food. They also have this pumpkin thats interesting. If anything has Dahl use caution its hotter than hell. Ive noticed a lot of food they eat is baby food-ish. Curried beef is good. Good luck and have fun.

Re: Never had Indian food and going to The Curry Club
I really like Indian food, but it doesn't like me
I say go with tandoori chicken, it's a safe bet. And plenty of naan (that delicious bread)!!!
Have fun!

Re: Never had Indian food and going to The Curry Club
I love Indian food! Its the national cuisine in the UK!!!
I would start with something like a Samosa, a Bhaji or maybe a Pakora. Then for main I would have something creamy...Korma, Tandoori Butter Chicken, or tomato-ey like a Dopiaza. Then I would have with it a Peshwari Naan (thats sweet with ground almonds and raisins) and some Pilau Rice.
This makes me think that we should have a curry for our tea on Friday...yummm

Re: Never had Indian food and going to The Curry Club
I love Indian food!
Samosas
veggie pakora
chicken vindaloo (but it's pretty spicy)
chicken kebabs are a good fall back
nan, paratha, and kulcha are all bread, and should help cushion your tummy
ETA: Have a lassi (milkshake type drink), they're wonderful.
enjoy!

Re: Never had Indian food and going to The Curry Club
I wish I could join you! We love that place! That was one of the first restaurants we took DS to. They love little kids there.
I would go for the Korma. Very mild, creamy sauce. Not spicy at all. They have steak there too, if you're not feeling adventurous.
Here's their website: Curry Club
and their menu: Menu

Re: Never had Indian food and going to The Curry Club
I love it all. Everything everyone has suggested.
For low-fat, I go for Tandoori Chicken (it's roasted in the tandoor oven)
I like saag ponir (creamy spinach with cheese cubes).

I love that place.
I get the same thing every time:
Vegetable Samosas
DAL MAKHNI - black lentils cooked in a creamy sauce with onions, tomatoes and spices
Rice
Garlic Naan.
My DH loves the Tandoori Steak.

I loved it. It was lunch during the week, and we did the Indian buffet. No clue what I ate; it was sooo good, though. I will go back with DH!
