What the hell?! 
I'm sorry but how irresponsible of them! Christine, I would be so upset. You can't just make it like a dog is available and then just be like "oh, you know what? I'm gonna keep her!" NO! That is so unfair to you and your DH who were so excited, met her, became attached, thought that she was yours, etc. I think that is a major flaw in their adoption system!
I'm SO SO sorry- how devastating and what a let down!! Adopting an animal is such a nice thing to do (well, giving ANY animal a home is great) but you and your DH were really trying to do a nice thing and open your home to a dog and give it so much love and then this happens? So unfair.
I really hope you are able to find another dog soon and that it works out for you in the end.

OMG that is ridiculous!!
I'm so sorry love, but you're right, it just means that now it's not the right time. That doesn't make it less painful though. I hope you get your baby soon!!

thanks so much sweetie! you stated exactly how we felt. we've decided to not go through that adoption agency, and will be scouting out North Shore Animal League & Little Shelter.

You're welcome! Yes, I would not go to that adoption agency again. Little Shelter is near me and a GREAT place... they are very professional there (we went to look at dogs there) but their rule is that you need to be over 25 years old in order to adopt and we are too young for that but here is the site-- they had GREAT dogs and a lot of them! They are also "non kill" so the guilt factor is a little less when you go to look for a dog...

Everything happens for a reason and you will find the right dog! Def check NSAL! we adopted our older dog from there and she is the best!
