New Here
Hi, my name is Dena. I'm new to this board. I've been TTC for over 4 years. Last year I had a Lap done for constant pelvic pain, and my doctor found I had severe scar tissue. She removed it, sometimes, I'll still feel pain.. She also said I shouldn't have a problem getting pregnant, it's been over a year and nothing. I'm starting to get discouraged. I feel sad/depressed that it's so hard to get pregnant. My next step is going to a fertility specialist. I want to go to a specialist, but then again I don't, because I'm scared to hear if something is wrong! Well, I just wanted to introduce myself. I look forward to getting to know all of you! Dena

Re: New Here
Welcome Dena - hope your stay here is short! Going to an RE is not a bad thing, you have to look at it this way, you will have your questions answered and be that much closer to getting pregnant. I know that it is a hard thing to face, but if you really want it you can do it.

Re: New Here
Hi! Welcome, I hope you stay is short and sweet.
I felt the same way as you, I was so scared of finding out what was wrong with me. What helped me was my strong desire to have children and I had to find the strength to move forward. Not to scare you, but sometimes you have to go through several doctors to get the right answers. Not to mention that every doctor has a different school of thought. I am finally getting answers about my fertility and I continue to search for more answers. Going to a RE is probably the best step for you now. Good Luck and Baby Dust!!

Re: New Here
No, the dr said I don't have endometriosis. Which she(my dr) said she was kind of disappointed, because I was always in constant pain, and I would bleed for 2 weeks during my period, heavy with clots(sorry, TMI). It's frustrating! I just don't understand.

Hi Dena
Welcome, everyone here is so nice. I'm sorry that you have to be here, but you will get a ton of support and any question you have someone is bound to know the answer! I know it is hard to go to an RE but my advice would be don't waste any time, trust me you will feel better for going. You will get a better understanding of what your problems might be. Good luck with everything and I hope your stay here is short

Re: New Here
Hi JuJu! Thank you for your response! I know even after going to a specialist, it will be a long road ahead. But we want a baby, and I'm willing to go through whatever it is to achieve our goal! Do you know if during a Lap, if it's possible to see if my tubes were blocked? Or maybe my doctor wasn't looking for that? I don't have cysts and she said my ovaries look good. So, I don't know!

Re: New Here
I had a LAP and my doctor (at the time) told me that my tubes looked fine. However, I later learned from another doctor that there is no way of knowing your tubes are okay by visually looking at them from the outside (which was done during my Lap).
A HSG is when they inject fluid through your tubes to see if there is any blockage. A majority of the women on this board have had this done and in my opinion, should be one of the first things done to rule out blockage. In my case, I have questionable tubes and some doctors believe it is my fibroids that are creating blockage and/or from scar tissue from a previous abdominal surgery. In your case, you might run a risk of scar tissue in your tubes since you had a lap.
I also had a hysterscopy (by a different doctor) to see the location of my fibroids in my uterus. I am not sure if hysteroscopy checks the tubes but I know it checks your uterine cavity for possible abnormalties.

Re: New Here
Thank you for the information JuJu! I know there is something wrong, maybe besides scar tissue. Everyone in my family has alot of children. My mom had 7children, 6 living. My other family members had 3,4, or 5. No one else in my family has issues with getting pregnant. People tell me "when the time is right it will happen", I'm getting so sick of hearing that!

Re: New Here
Welcome. I hope your stay is short!
I had a hard time admitting to myself that I needed to see an RE as well. BUT, it's better than trying it the old fashioned way, month after month, and the constant disappointment.
Good luck to you! If you need referrals for doctors, let us know!

Re: New Here
Thank You Lauren and Red. I probably will need some referrals, considering I've never seen an RE before. Do you know of any in the NY area? Thanks again for the warm welcome!

By NY area, do you mean NYC or LI? And if LI, Nassau or Suffolk?

Re: New Here
Hi and So sorry you have to be on this board....
Sound slike you do nee dthe help of a specialist though and soon., 4 years is way too long with no testing or answers.
If you are wanting to move forward, seek a good RE out and hopefully be on your way to a BFP soon.
